Auto mag says AMG coupe is coming!
I might have waited if I knew then what I know now. But, still no word on pricing or performance changes so for now its still just something to drool over in my dreams. Thought ya'll might like to know, before you start modding your coupes- in case you want to trade up to the AMG soon!
Mine will be bone stock, low miles and clean as a whistle cause I figure I won't be able to resist, but we'll see.
I wonder what will be in the '03 AMG, though. I'll be interesting to see how the new model year's ccoupes pan out.

Pffelan says it may cost £35-39k... my rule of thumb for car cost conversion from £ to US$ is 1 to 1.

My build date of my on-order car is literally today, so I am 30-40 days out from its ultimate arrival. I am really sensing something is coming, I just wish someone could pinpoint exactly what that is before I bite the bullet and buy what I ordered - a car that is stickering at over $34000 before taxes, tags etc...
I want to enjoy a car now, but if I end up kicking myself for not waiting another 6 months, my wife will undoubtedly kick me harder!
My staggered AMGs shall continue to stay in waiting...
Brill. Silver C230K 02'-- Auto,CD,C4,C5,C7 -- On order:p
I can just see the explanation to my wife now... "I know I said this was the last new car for a few years, but 349 dancing ponies is a safety issue and we can't have the baby riding around in an unsafe, 192hp vehicle!"
It seems unlikely that there would be a full blown AMG version of the C230. If you look across the MB line there really is only one such car in each class, i.e.-- C32,SLK32,CLK55,E55,S55 etc... Yes, there are versions where one can have some AMG ground effects e.g. the CLK430 but, no car that is on par in terms of performance. Why would MB undercut it's C-Class AMG by offering the less expensive Coupe AMG?

)so,If the AMG for 2003(or earlier) turns out to be a SUPER beast,I'll get a buyer(who can't be bothered with a four month list),or come to that my dealer who has nearly new/used cars at almost new prices to take mine.........and then my wait will start all over again....I dont think I would want a first run model though(let any teething problems get sorted first)....how about we all just wait and see if MBZ price this thing sensibly first????
My gut says that if this is true it will be in lines with what the Sport package is on my 2001 ML320 - it looks like the ML55, with the same bodywork, sans the buldged hood, has the AMG exhaust tip and bumper cutout, has bigger "Evolution" wheels, but no drivetrain changes. I have the look, I don't have the grunt.
US C7 = Evolution package everywhere else
Possible US C7+AMG Sport = AMG Evolution package everywhere else
I am pretty much already there with the AMG 203s I have waiting. The body changes are slightly revised bumpers and maybe a deeper side sill. Slightly lowered suspension and spring rates, too.
If, and I think this is probably a big if, the AMG pacage will include a drivetrain change, my interest is there. No doubt about it. I'd love to see a C26 or C32 Coupe, but the chances of that here, where we don't get the C32 wagon as an example, are slim. Many of the dealers I have visited this year report diminishing AMG product sales. Granted, the economy has been a bit rougher in the last 18 months, but soft sales would not contribute to more models forthcoming in my mind.
Anyone have access to the european mags with pictures of the C32 coupe?
I'll agree with Robert, even if they do release a full-blown AMG coupe I bet it (like the wagon) doesn't make it to the US.

Soooo, if you were to cancel your 2.3L Coupe order today, you may not see your AMG variant until the end of the 2003 run. That's a long wait.
Let's not even talk about price gouging for the first 30% of the run.
