Just got a MB Star SDS C3
So I finally got a Star Diagnosis System clone from China today. Was wondering if anyone might know of any good resources or tips/tricks they could share on using one of these. There seems to be a lot to learn, but i'm eager to do so.

1. Make a copy of the hard drive.
2. Copy the software to DVD and keep apart from the hard drive.
3. Do not open the software with a computer that can connect online. HP will brick the software.
4. Get some chop sticks and soy sauce for your tool box. Makes your multiplexer feel at home.

I think hp was supposed to be MB. If the star system gets access to the internet It may figure out that the multiplexer you are using has been blacklisted making it useless. So it is recommended to make a full backup of the HDD they gave so that way if you mess up the software you can fix it easily. Most of the companies block the internet but don't push your luck with that use another laptop or tablet for internet and only use the star software for the car.

Are there forum rules against posting the info and site I got it from? I did notice on some other forums you couldn't post similar info. Not sure if that's due to it being a clone or just something for the vendors on the site.

HP supplies the infrastructure servers to Daimler. It does not matter what brand of computer you use. The software "phones home" and if the mother ship does not like the user, it slams the door shut.
Just make sure it cannot get to the internet.

Good to know but interesting that they use HP for servers and IBM/Lenovo for the laptops in dealerships. (I assume they all use IBM/Lenovo as every dealers system I have seen thats what they use) any insight on that?

You don't have to post it publicly if you are that cautious.
