please am using a w203 01 and I want to install a 07 instrument cluster
I am new to mbworld and I also have an 01 w203 C240 that I upgraded the instrument cluster to an 07 C230 direct plug and play except one problem. The fuel gauge reads erratic now never knowing how much fuel you actually have. And trying to keep track of miles before your next fill up before you run out of gas/diesel sucks.
So if anyone can help me fix this problem I heard it's a matter of flip flopping some wires to the new correct spots but i don't know where exactly to start.

i have read so many different opinions on upgrading an instrumet cluster on a 2002 w203 with one out of a 2005 w203. i am interesed in hearing more about this idea. I have bought an instrument cluster from a 2005 w203 and installed it in my 2002 model and all the lights on the cluster lit up except for the section between the two gauges which show mileage etc, etc.
i am aware that the milages is stored in a seperate computer on this model and im not sure if it is that because the two milages did nt match was the reason the center section did not display.
i was told that the reason was that the cluster was nt talking to the computer and that mercedes could marry up the two,the tacho was nt working neither were the gauges just all the warning lights lit up eg. hi beam, srs, esp etc etc look forward to any input regards lou
I swapped one out of a 2005 c240 into my 02 amd it worked just fine. Gauges fuel. Miles ect. Guess I got lucky
Think it has to do with the setting your car came with ,I also swapped out mine and 2 other of my friends we all purchased the same part number but one we couldn’t change the clock setting but all other functions work as they should even steering wheel buttons for the radio control

I wanted to change my cluster panel for a later model too. I have a 2004 c320 and was looking at a CLC cluster with chequer boarding pattern and white around the dials. I bought one second hand and as I was going to replace it I needed to get the mileage corrected but instead I took the one from the car and dismantled the front panel and trim off the cluster, I was then able to gently remove the black face plate from both and swap them over!!! ( They are just stuck on anyway ) This solved the problem of the mileage and as I was using the old cluster with a new face on it it worked perfectly. It was also a very cheap result !!!!!!!!!
