Check engine light ..
CEL cold heat when at a stand still.. some thing between the fender and the abs/esp actuator? is ticking .. coolant level is fine .. engine runs fine .. thermostat is stuck open so engine only heats to 60 degrees and goes dow to about 50 while driving.. BUT while at idle i ran inside for about 4 minutes and it was at 80 when i came outside then went back down to 60 for the rest of the ride home.. fluctuating between 50-60 at stop and go..outside temp gauge always read -40... Celcius of course (canada) ..

What do you want us to tell you? Needs a thermostat and a code reader if the issue does not go away once you fix the thermostat. remember that coolant has a lifespan so it is probably due to be changed as well. as for ticking that is normal you can replace if you want but mine has been doing it for over 100,000 don't worry about it. As for the outside temp gauge it is either bad or unplugged.

WTF that is RUDE!! I spent time responding to you to try to help you out. The point of this place is to help each other out. Usually a thank you is a nice response.
So lets try this again ask us your questions because I didn't see a question in your first post just a few statements about having a CEL with no code, a bad thermostat and a ticking noise. So it seems you know you have a bad thermostat so fix it and that should take care of the temperature fluctuations and then get us a code for the CEL I suspect it is telling you that you have a bad thermostat.

"what do u want us to tell you" wasnt very friendly in my opinion rather unnecassary.. but hey i could care less.. i was actually hoping there was a way to check the code without a reader like my altima but i can tell germans didnt add that feature. your answer was sufficient enough in regards to the ticking noise and now the check engine light possilbly being caused by the thermostat. thanks....
