Sad News. Totaled my car
Hi guys today in the snow, some ******* made a U turn in front of me and I crashed into him. I was unable to stop in time. It'll be a week for an adjuster and police report most likely. I got it towed to my body shop and they think it's probably totaled. Thoughts about it being totaled or not? Thoughts on repair? Thoughts on what to buy if totaled?

sorry to hear/see this.
Did you have winter tires on your car? From the pictures I would guess not. It makes a huge difference in steering and braking.

That's a real shame! Thankfully you weren't hurt. I hope you're at least able to sell some of the parts off of it.
I'm not sure what I'd get to replace it. A W204. I hear Audis are really nice. Whatever you get, let us know.
Good luck!

Out Of Control!!
Hood, grille, bumper, bumper supports, radiator, maybe a couple of other engine parts - did the damage stop before the engine block?
It's probably right on the cusp of being totalled.
If so, the new 2 series will be available for test drives in a couple of weeks. Mmmmmm!
Or ignore the winter and get an S2K.

Thanks guys!
@tommy- it stops before the engine block, the car was drivable.
I actually hope its not totaled, rather not start off fresh

Personally, I dont think it will be totaled out. My sister had a similar accident where the hood, grille, bumper, bumper supports, radiator, and some other Misc parts were destroyed and this was on a Volvo S40, and the vehicle was not totaled. Adjuster came and just wrote us a check and that was it. I hope all goes well for you and goes in your favor. I feel your pain about the NewYork weather as it is killing me also with my car being RWD.

First off its a great thing you weren't hurt. It was a terrible day to be out on the road, accidents and overturned vehicles everywhere. Maybe since it was still drivable its just a lot of sheetmetal and supports? Fingers crossed.

Damn, that's sad... I enjoyed seeing your car on here. Just the visual things looks like maybe $2000 in parts, plus labor costs...Hopefully they don't deem it totaled. If they do, hopefully you'll get enough $ to buy something similar or better. Luckily you avoided injury. Do you mind if I ask how fast you were going on impact?

Thanks everyone! OK time for the big decision. They are giving me $9200 for a total. OR $7000 and keep the car. Thoughts??????

I like the car, but after a car has that amount of damage a lot of little things are never the same.... the way the grill lines up, hood gap, headlight beam off. radiator fan squeaks... ect. ect. In all honesty I would take the 9,200 that's a lot of money to get a nice upgraded vehicle.

Be rid of it and use the extra cash on something nice.

Take the $7000 and keep the car - but part it out for more than the $2200 difference,.... Then you are ahead of the game,.... With a bit of grease work.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad you're in one piece though. I say go for the $7k and part out the useful parts as there are a ton of good parts that can keep other W203s on the road. I know time is money but I think parting out the car is worth the effort and grease. Selling the transmission and wheels alone will recoup the $2k.
If you fix it it just won't feel the same again. If all you needed were new lights and a bumper then by all means fix it but this is a bit beyond that.
Once the process is done then take a look at a W204 C300. People swear they're far better built than the W203.

Now is when you take the nibble. Tell the adjuster that you were not at fault, and your mods are worth another 2K. Hint you might cash a check for $10.5K and move on to a car that has not been hit. Very, very few shops can put that damage right anyhow.
