2000 model C240
Front end noise

Hi Folks, I recently bought a 2000 model C240 [ build date December 2000 ]. It has done 143000 km. I notice that after driving it for about 20 mins, a noise develops in the front suspension. Hard to describe the noise, a 'graunching' sound like rubber against rubber. I can jounce both the left front or the right front & it makes the noise. I am not sure if the noise is on one side & this is 'referred' noise or if in fact there is a problem with the both sides. It takes very little car movement to get the noise, does not have to be a large bump to get the noise. Any common problems with these? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Common sources are the Caster arm bushes or sway bar links & bushes.

Check for cracks & silicone fluid leakage from the Caster arm bushes.

Update. I replaced the front stabiliser bar pivot bushes with polyurethane bushes & so far no more front end noise. Will be doing the same with rear bushes.
