Eek! Slammed into a pothole - Need advice

Alright so my minor intermittent PS issue was cleared up in 20 mins after having the rear SAM inspected but on my way home from the workshop I slammed into what seemed like at least a 20cm deep pothole if not deeper. I saw it at the last second after the bus in front of me went over it and I tried to swerve but still slammed into it with my front right wheel (enough to yank the wheel from my hand) and I think the rear right wheel may have went in as well. I was doing about 45 km/h.

Now I have a vibration when driving at 40, 80 and over 100km/h but weirdly enough it's not through the steering. I can feel it through the seat and now the car pulls slightly to the right if I let go of the steering. I know that probably means I'm now in need of an alignment service but what about the vibration? Should I get all 4 wheels rebalanced just to see if the weights may have been knocked out of whack? I do have on some cheaper Sailun Winter tires on genuine Ronal wheels so maybe a re-balance would take care of at least the vibration?

BTW shoutout to Matthew Hofer at Workshop MB. Brutally honest and excellent service.

Sounds like you might have bent a wheel. Also check sway drop links. They don't like pot hole clouts. Have wheels, including rears, checked. Do 4 wheel alignment.

Thanks. The front wheel hit hard but the tire didn't pop or bubble so wouldn't the rim be protected? If the front wheel was bent would I feel it through the steering wheel? You'd think with all the taxes we pay here in Canada the roads would be better in some areas.

It could still have bent a wheel. You might have bent a rear wheel.

Call 311 and file complaint and claim against the city.

I'll look into that. Thanks. In the meantime avoid Finch Avenue between Martin Grove and Hwy 27. It looks like mines went off there.

Avoid curb lane,.... Where majority of potholes are.

Usually cold-thaw cycle produces potholes. But this year we got ice storm and polar vortex without much thaw period,.... But potholes seem much larger and deeper now.

Alright, so a little update on the whole pothole saga. Turns out the right front and right rear wheels are bent. I'll have to locate some Elegance model rims but in the meantime they swapped the front right to the rear right and vice versa to reduce the vibration. I found a website with refinished alloy MB C280 Elegance wheels for $175 each. Going to have to find out shipping costs.

I Appreciate the input given.

Sorry to hear that but it sounded likely.

I feel your pain. I go to the University of Guelph-Humber, so I have to take Finch to get to the 427 south so I can go home. 427 and Finch is basically equivalent to off-roading. Where is this pothole exactly? Sometimes I go from Finch/27 to Finch/Keele, so I'd like to avoid this catastrophe as much as possible.

Excuse to go aftermarket rims and have the city cover some of the costs.

It's on the right lane heading west towards Hwy 27 on Finch not far from Father Henry Carr Secondary School. Can't really pinpoint it because there were a ton there that I went around but this one caught be off guard. The bus in front of me sailed over it with no issues because of it's wide wheels and tires. I don't live around there so I had no clue it was that bad.

Call me crazy but I love this car in it's factory form. Most 22 year olds myself would like a sport package MB or a BMW but I actually like this Elegance model more. Will get 2 exact rims that I have on now which are the stock wheels. My next Mercedes Benz will also be in luxury trim but with MB making the sport package free of charge finding a luxury model might be a bit of a challenge.
