Mpg

Hi all,

I was wondering how everyone was doing on MPG on their C.

I am getting about 350-375 miles to a full tank of gas. I rarely drive with the AC, and I don't shift past 4000 too often. My trip calculator is around 24-27 in city, and i've gotten from 28-34 on the highway, usually more around 30+.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. I can't see how I would need anything more than the C ever (unless I have 3+ kids )

about the same

Sounds very similar to ours, which has the old iron duke M111 engine.

Mileage

I don't get nearly as great a MPG as you do with the 1.8SC.

I am averaging anywhere between 18 to 22 MPG, although the computer is consistently shows couple of MPG higher (measured using miles / gallons of gas put in between fill ups).

Yep...

Mine's crappy like that, too. I wish I was getting better. I am actually disappointed in it. I thought it would be more seeing as it's a 1.8. I know a SC takes some of the power to make power, but come on... Funny thing is that the UK has a C200 instead of the c230. Same engine, same SC, just tuned to make less power and give it better gas mileage - which is a good thing, giving their petrol prices! We got power, they got mileage.

I have the 1.8 super charger too...I just did the math, and regardless of trip computer, I'm getting about 24 mpg average between highway and city driving.

I asked in another thread, but what rpms does the supercharger kick in the most? MB really didn't explain the way the supercharger worked all that well, other than the basic 'it uses heated up air'. This is with the sedan, mind you.

I typically get 29-31 mpg to and from work (11mi). On longer trips I will get much better. Last month I did a 320 mile trip and averaged 34.7mpg. At some points I was just over 35mpg. This is all using Sunoco 94 Octane.

I have a 2003 C230K SC. Anyway, if I drive all highway I get 31+ MPG. If I drive, not my wife, I get roughly 22-24 MPG on highway/city.... I drive like an *** though. If my wife drives, which she has the car most of the time, she get 26-28 MPG and her trip is half and half as well. She drives a little more conservatively than I do.... Our car has about 17,000 miles on it and is a 6 speed. It did not start to get real good mileage until after about 5,000 miles. It takes a bit for the engine to break in. And of course you will get diferent fuel economy in the winter than in the summer due to the cold and warming up of the vehicle, runs more rich when cold..... Also use of AC will drop fuel economy as well. But I am very happy with my fuel economy, especially compared to my powerless Saturn SL1 that gets horrid mileage because it needs to be floored all the time to get up to speed. My 1986 190E gets better mileage than my 2001 Saturn....

Yeah, I get pretty crappy mileage in my car averaging about 22mpg....However, my car only has 2700 miles on it, so hopefully it will get better as the engine gets broken in more

I get horrid mileage because of my lead foot. When the wife drives she averages about 26-27 with city and highway driving. Me I am not that lucky, but I did not buy the car for it fuel economy. But yeah at first we would get about 28-30 on 350+ mile trips. Now we get between 32-34 on that same trip. But it got better after about 5000 miles or so.
