Question European Delivery questions...

For all the fellow C-Class owners that choose the Europen Delivery option, I just have a question about the time process of it, and which vacation package I should take. First, my lease on my '02 C230 will be up in October of 2004, and I was thinking that since there is a rumored facelift comming I would order anothe C-class (sedan). Second, If I choose to initiate my order with my local dealer in March/April of 2004, when would the car be ready for me to take delivery in Europe? Trird, when I am done with the vacation in Europe, how long does it usually take for the car to arrive in the US, or at the dealer? Lastly, which vacation package did you chose? I want the 6 day one that goes through the Black Forest and Austrian Alps, but I think I am only going to do the standard package. Today I went to dealer, and when I told their specialist with Euopean Delivery about the 5% discount that was on mbusa.com, they said that it was expired and the web-site was not updated. WTF?!?!? BMW offers up o 7% off. Why did MBUSA stop with their discounts?!?!? If anyone would help, your imput is greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Jason

Call MB directly. Its a well known fact that stealer always seem to be the last to know. Ask Matt230K on here. He works for a stealership, err dealership.

Who, me?? Actually, I don't know that much about European Delivery, and we don't do too many of them at my dealer. If the person at the your dealer really is the "specialist" on European Deliveries, then I guess take their word for it. But they could just be making things up. I agree with amdeutsch that you should contact someone with MB directly and get the truth.

Euro Delivery

I looked into European Delivery when I purchased my Merc. I was told that MB dictates the price of the cars for the European delivery. Depending on the season of the model year, there are different specials on the euro delivery, but usually there is a discount plus the destination charge is waived.

I did not do it since we were not able to live w/o a car for 6 to 8 weeks after we would have gotten back from Germany.

Double check with any dealer that can give you exact details as I believe euro delivery has set prices (but I am sure there is always room for negotiation) and good luck!!!

The European facelift starts production in Q1/04.

Try to get the sedan from the Bremen factory, because the factory tour is much better than the Sindelfingen tour. In Bremen, you walk through the production halls and you just next to the production line. In Sindelfingen you see the production from a small coach.

Also the customer center in Bremen is much smaller and more personal than Sindelfingen.

Starting from Bremen, you can do a nice German roundtrip: Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Fulda, Gelnhausen, Frankfurt, Wuerzburg, Muenchen, Neuen Schwanstein, Freiburg, Koeln, Bremen.

Hey everyone, thanks for all your replies on this. I contacted MB directly by phone, and the 5% discount still is offered. I also just looked up info. about those two different plants. I personally agree with DiWi about the Bremen plant because through the pictures and reviews (Mercedes-Benz.com) it is smaller and has a more "personal" theme to it. I also called LufStanza (spelling) about airfare, and they were pretty reasonable. I would probally fly into Bremen if the fly there during my dates, and take a taxi to the costomer service area at the plant. ---I can't wait, I really think I am going to do It!

Don't forget to negotiate the price. The deal is 5% in addition to any other bargain you can make with your local stealer. Also, the cars delivered in Germany do not hit the stealer's allocation or they hit it differently. We picked up an S500 Sport for 5% off MSRP plus $1000 off MSRP plus no delivery fee. My friend and his wife were driving a pair of his and her's SL500 Sports in Germany at MSRP before they were even in the stealership back home where they were marked up $5000!

Be aware: Lufthansa is member of the Star Aliance. Long distance Code share flights are common. Especially between the US and Frankfurt (Hub of Lufthansa) you can have a Lufthansa ticket and fly with United.

Arriving in Bremen, take a taxi to the customer service center. Mercedes arranged a special rate with the taxi companies (19.00 EUR). The Sindelfingen customer service center is at least 4 times larger than in Bremen.

By the way, Bremerhaven port (part of Bremen) is the shipping port for cars to the State.

when you do euro delivery, you get some taxi vouchers worth 40 euros. and i agree. when we my dad and i went to pick up my parents' '04 sl500, we took tours of both sindelfingen and bremen. the bremen tour was much nicer, and more personal. we actually got to ask the mechanics some questions. but waiting for the car now is a killer.
