I forgot, you are all knowing. I respect that you have the time in your life to dig up WIS and EPC diagrams. I don't. The information I give is accurate, and simple enough. I don't feel the need to teach basics. Your opinion about the helpfulness of my information is subjective. I don't open my mouth unless I've personally practiced what I preach. I have fixed thousands of real world cars accurately and quickly, so I'm happy to share what I know will fix a car on an internet forum but it's on the guy doing the actual work to do his research on how to test voltages, torque bolts, or read a wiring diagram.

You should thus challenge whether you are helping or hindering. In this thread as with many others you have provided nothing useful or definitive.

I don't pretend to know everything Benz. But even my short answers are reasonably complete.

It's not about time or length of comment ~ it's about quality. None of us know everything. Many of your comments would suggest you have some brushing up to do.

It's collective input that makes this forum strong.

Just throwing this out in case anyone has a similar issue in the future. Saved up for a month in anticipation of a >$1K repair bill, and had the car towed to a local German car specialist. Turns out that Fuse 53 was blown, 25A fuse for the rear SAM. Changed the fuse and it fires right up. Cost me a $120 diagnostic fee which is way cheaper than I was expecting, but still kicking myself for not finding it on my own. At least it wasn't the EIS...

Strange. If no crank it is usually fuse 52 in the front SAM.

And this, folks, is why you should take your car in for a professional diagnostic if it doesn't start and you can't pull a useful OBDII code. Then proceed with a DIY. That way, you save money and time.

Merely checking all fuses in this case would have solved the problem. Hardly difficult & requiring a professional.

The whole problem is finding that professional. For every one there are 10 idiots. Like the professional who told you to wait until you bend all the valves before you replace the timing chain on an M271

I don't know who or what Glyn is, but I do know that I respect his knowledge and am deeply appreciative of his willingness to help. After enduring the abuse, incompetence and money-sucking parts-swapping of several MB dealers ( to say nothing of the "it's not our problem" attitude of MB USA) for many years, I think it's a wise policy to always check here first when there is a problem. At the very least, I can approach the MB dealer armed with knowledge. Many thanks to Glyn and all the other posters who generously contribute their time and knowledge.

I totally agree with Lgraz5. I have been having a similar issue with my 2007 C280 4Matic lately and have been writing Glyn, telling him of my progress and asking him for the next thing to test, so on and so forth. I have never met a nicer gentleman willing to take the time to help me out.

I have taken my vehicle to the dealer to have my fuel pump replaced because I, as opposed to PSYKO_Inc, was trying to fix my car in minus twenty degrees temperature where handling tools can get your fingers tingling in no time .

After a week I went to pick up my freshly washed vehicle and gave the dealer two weeks worth of my hard earned money, only to go back to square one the following morning. The car simply refused to start.

So here I am, more than ever determined to fix it myself, along with the help of a man who lives halfway around the world and who doesn't know me from a hole in the wall but takes some of his precious time to help me out, all this without any retribution. So Glyn, Thank you for all the help you provide us out of the kindness of your heart.

I'm having a huge issue with my C280 Luxury 2006.
Here is a 2min video of the issue

It won't crank or start at all. As soon as I put the key into the 3rd ignition position. The car wont crank BUT the COOLER FAN is sounding LOUD like a Jet Turbine.

I did the following changes:
1. Checked and Boosted the Battery
2. Fully charged the battery for 45mins at advanced auto parts
3. Checked all fuses and replaced any that had issues
4. Replaced Fuse 52 for a new 20amp one
5. Checked ignition relays and put new Siemens relays.
6. I don't know what else to do

I took it to the Dealership for a mercedes recall on the sunroof that was detaching and not working. They took 4 hours to work on my car. They said they needed some glue. I took it back from the dealership for the 14 mile drive.

Since then the car won't turn on at all.

Please all your help is appreciated.
