Lived and worked in this country all my life.....Conned by an immigrant
2 weeks ago I bought my GF a 2001 C220 CDI coupe, we were unlucky to have purchased it off a conman who went through the hassle of faking all the MOT and service documents to coincide with mileage, (which was altered) and for the fact he had too many problems with the car to actually pass an MOT, this being SRS, faulty front SAM making electrics temperamental......... Long story short the car had been in a knock and wasn't reported to the insurance, hence it didn't show on the HPI.
After realising what he had done we were devastated! How could someone go to all that work to ruin someone's life's??..... Anyway it turns out he is a relatively new immigrant to the country and this is what he does.... Turns around damaged cars and sells them on.
We have contacted the police and are still waiting on a reply from the fraud team (2 weeks up to now)
A mechanic armed with snap on diagnostics who is a family of ours and myself put a lot of man hours getting this car back as is for the surprising cost of 250 quid including the MOT!! (I think he took pity on us)
The car is pretty good now and most importantly safe, however there are a few issues I would like to address to the gurus.....
-The boot is closed however when driving the 'trunk open' warning sign pops up, is this something to do with the interior boot light?
- the front indicators have been fiddled with (probably due to the bump) and the power for the front near side indicator is being run from the wing mirror, can anyone recommend an auto electrician etc based around Potters Bar that may be able to rectify this?
-passenger door lock mechanism makes a lot of noise jumping up and down before doing its job.....any ideas?
Thanks guys and I look forward to being apart of this community
Dan
I'd say the "boot open" indicator is more likely coming from a wonky sensor than the lighting.
The door lock issue I know has been discussed before here - do a search, and you should be able to come up with some info - sorry, have not had the issue myself (which is surprising, because I've had nearly every other one).

Those immigrants
My friend got scammed by an african guy, who sold the salvage car with clean title as a "dealer" but without dealer ID, so he had to get a bond to file for a title. Of course nothing was told before money exchanged hands.
But first, push the emergency open button in the boot; sometimes on early models, that would get pushed from within the boot for whatever reason, and then had to be reset by pushing it again. Probably won't fix it, but I've seen it happen.
