I have a 2002 c240.
When I am accelerating or coasting it feels like the brake is engaging hard for a second and then releasing. It happens at all speeds, city driving and interstate. It feels like I've slammed on the brakes and let up immediately. Right front, left front and sometimes both front tires.
Replaced front brakes and sensors, flushed brake fluid and bled brakes twice to make sure there was NO air in the lines. It does not do it as often as it did before but it still does it. Anyone have any insight into this issue?
I was going to take it to the dealer to have the srs and esp codes ran to see what shows up..

As Holmes said it could be a wheel sensor reacting as though a wheel has lost traction. Scan for codes.
The ESP unit is mounted on the face of the ABS block. Unplug the harness to it & clean the plug with switch cleaner. Sometimes corrosion sets in. Check the ground connection on the left front inner fender. There was a bulletin on this. Also make sure the Yaw sensor is properly seated in it's base in the trunk.

Yawww! Just replaced mine but it wasn't causing the brake to activate just a constant ESP error on the dash. Better get to someone with SDS. Don't want to wait!
