New C320 Sport is here! (but off to a bad start)
Granite gey/Charcol, automatic, xenons, sunroof, cd player (sirius as well if MB ever gets their act together).
Love the car - absolutely gorgeous, particlularly with the flat badge I put on (my 1st mod!). However, it already has minor problems, going in for service today. Significant amount of wind noise enters through driver's door seal at 35mph, gets steadily louder. Also, there is some intermittent rattling somewhere in the dash, but haven't isolated that yet, so it will have to wait.
Needless to say, my 1st MB experience isn't off to the strongest of starts.
I was hoping I'd be one of the "30K miles, no problems so far" owners on this board instead of the "my car is a POS that has spent 3 weeks at the dealer in the first 6 months of ownership" owners. Hopefully, dealer can fix the wind noise today and the rattle later on, and I can then happily report back later that I am in the former group above.
Anyone have any thoughts on these two minor issues? I've heard the wind noise issue is often made better but never completely fixed.
Additionally, I've noticed a signficant lack of engine power compared to the 2002 c320 loaner I had last week -- mostly that low-end torque that gives you the deep push in the back at even 1/2 throttle. I believe this is due to the engine not being broken in yet on my car, but has anyone else noticed an acceleration improvement as their c320 gets broken in?
Lastly, my dealer said they couldn't get the "no phone" message removed from the dash menu, and that the alarm can't be set to chirp upon locking. I've done a search on this forum, and I believe the dealer wrong on both counts, but does that hold true for the 2004.5 models?
Thanks for any insights, and I'll post some pics once I get my new digital camera figured out.
We have an '02 C320 and an '03 C230 and my biggest gripe with the 320 is the lack of pickup compared to our last C280 Sport. Our 320 has about 40,000 miles now and it doesn't pull like the 280 did...or at least it doesn't feel like it does.
Good luck with your problems...they are minor in the scheme of things...my Jag is on it's second engine and third tranny in 25,000 miles...and thats just mechanical, you don't want to know about the rest.

Yes, you can remove the no phone message...search the board for the DAS setting changes and hand it to your dealer. They can also remove the No Audio if you decide to replace your headunit.

Definitely minor problems, hopefully few and far between.
Really weird about the acceleration though. The c320 loaner I had last week really moved -- instantaneous push in the back not unlike my old BMW 540i.
My car, however, doesn't seem to have the same vigor right now. Thought it might be the adaptive tranny, but I can't get the same push using the auto-stick to change gears manually. Seems like the torque just isn't there.
Perhaps after a few thousand miles it will be quicker, but right now I'm longing for my loaner!
sorry to say but...don't anticipate your problems going away with a Mercedes!

the rattle in the dash board is the center speaker grill
Gonna have to take it in again to be fixed -- hopefully they can fix it this time. I just cannot deal with a noisy cabin, particularly with a Mercedes.
