Question Code P0456

Hi I am new to this but I just purchased a lovely 2005 c230 k sedan and the check engine light is on but I have a computer that does diagnostics and this code came on is it something serious? and also for some reason when I park it on the hill the gas light comes on after I just put gas in it is this a problem? ( there are no gas leaks under the car from what I can see), thanks also the car has only 107,000 miles

If your light is on during the inspection, you won't be able to pass.

The most common problem for that code would be the gas cap. If that's not the issue you will probably have to get a smoke test done to see where the leak is.

Here is the link for the gas cap, if needed:

+1^

Also. 2005 models frequently suffered a filler pipe crack which causes EECS codes. Smoke test will reveal.

Yes it was the fuel filler neck in almost every instance I read about on the forum back several years ago. Happened to my 05 as well.
