Three per door (2 x 6 1/2" and a tweeter) and a 6x4" woofer in the hatch area left side storage compartment. Sound gets better once you get used to the lack of punch and tinny sound.

2002 C230 coupe
I've had my coupe for 2 1/2 weeks. I specifically checked for the presence of a center-fill speaker because I was uncertain as to whether there was one or not. It does have one. It's located closer to the windshield under the dash top center grill. The sound reflects off of the windshield and into the passenger area. This helps to minimize the degree to which sounds will be localized at the tweeters positioned by the side view mirrors.

There are two wide range speakers in each door. They are both near the bottom of the door. One is in the front of the door near the hinged area which provides sound to the front seat section of the passenger cabin. The second is near the back of the door, the end that swings away from the car when the door is opened. This provides sound for the rear seat area. There is a tweeter on each side of the car at the lower front corner of each front window right by the side view mirrors. So, each door has three speakers, 2 wide range and 1 tweeter which makes 6 speakers mounted in the 2 doors. The other 2 speakers (for a total of 8) are the sub-woofer on the passenger side of the rear hatch area (between the side panel and the wheel well) and the center-fill speaker previously described.
I hope that helps you create a mental image of what you will be getting.

The people at MB must have lost something in the translation. They either can't count and can't measure or theirs a 9" speaker somewhere in a C-Coupe. Now if it's true that there are 7 speakers in a Coupe with the Bose option and we know there are 6 speakers in the door, a woofer in the rear and a center fill speaker in the front then which speaker is not really there?

Mike E - Thanks for the clarification. I was confused by the fact that the MB literature indicated a total of 7 speakers as descibed in Buellwinkle's reply.
Flashman- To me, "seven...including" refers to the woofer also, so the MB count is inaccurate. Very confusing to the consumer!
