2003 C230 Sport SEDAN Oil Change help

I have a couple of questions that I was wondering if someone could help. Basically I did some searches for oil change instructions but could not find any on a c230 SEDAN. I found instructions for a coup but none for sedan. SORRY if it has been posted, if instructions have been posted please direct me to the link, thanks.

Anyway where is the oil filter located for the 2003 C230 sedan. I understand that i would have to get a topsider, I just cant find the oil filter.

thanks
james

How many miles do you have??? If it is a US car you have free maintainance till 4 years/50,000 miles.... That includes oil changes.

The oil filter is at the left rear of the engine. The instructions for chaning oil in the C230 sedan are the same as those for the coupe.

Lynn, is that under any covers??? I wonder if it is the same area as my 190E's is?? I will have to look for mine, I have never seen it. Then again I am not worried until I hit that 50K mark.

Thanks ...

Basically I am considering to do more oil changes myself, but I also wanted to know that the Service A should be free. I live in San Diego and keep trying to schedule a Service A but they want to charge me $250. Then when I tell them it should be free they take my name and tell me that they will call me back. I have never received a call back. I am now going to call them and just schedule the appointment, if they try to screw me I guess I will call corporate.

Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

In the US, this service is covered in the price of the car. I would call them back and ask to speak to the manager if they don't understand this. The next step would be to the General Manager of the dealership, and then to MBUSA. You may also want to contact the state's Attorney General's office since they are trying to rip you off.

Here is a link to the MBUSA Website where it says that Service A and B are free to you for 4 years/50k miles:

Link

Thanks to the Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Commitment, routine service on your Model Year 2000 or newer Mercedes-Benz (as listed under A- and B-Service in your Mercedes-Benz Service Booklet) will cost you nothing for the duration of your 4-year or 50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Maintenance beyond that called for by the Flexible Service System, and wear items, are not covered.

I believe the fine print states maintenace is free based on the FSS in your particular vehicle. If this is correct, they are in the right to charge your for unecessary maintenance.

It is only free when the vehicle's FSS system tells you it is due or when you have under 1000 miles til Service A or B.

Which dealer is this? I've had no problems with Hoehn up in Carlsbad.

To the previous poster, the fss is telling me to get it done, and to poster above, it is San Diego.

Today I have my appointment. So we will see how it goes. The thing I think is going to be the only problem is getting my tires rotated since I am past my 12000 miles. See, Before I got my service A I got two message lights telling me to add a quart of oil to the car. I took it to MB of SD and talked to them, I was concerned (where is the oil going, its not leaking), and they helped fast and with no problems. The only thing is it pushed my service A back by 3500 miles. So if they want to charge me a outrageous amount to rotate my tires then I think I will just have that done at costco.

Other things I want looked at is the db setting of my radio. I think I want turned up so that it gets louder when I drive faster. And I want the parking brake looked at, because it does not always make the clicking sound when I push it down, but it always works. Those I would not think would cost anything.
