Good luck!!!
I had a VW GTI from Nov 00 to Apr 01. I went to a tuner and asked them to put a Garret chip on (the tuner is the only authorized dealer in my area & they're very experienced in doing these kinda stuff). However, they were not able to start my car after they've put the chip on, all the electronics f-ked up. It The stock ECU has to be replaced & it took VW 3 weeks to send a new ECU from Germany. My car with only 500miles was sitting in the lot for a month doing nothing! It was later that they found out my GTI was Made in Germany (every now & then VW send some Made in Germany cars over while the majority of GTIs are Made in Brazil), and the German made GTIs have a different ECU. Even the Made in Brazil's GTIs have 3 different ECU suppliers.
I would say the tuner should bear 90% of the responsibility because they didnt carefully checked prior to the installation. But what I am trying to say is even experienced tuners can made those kind of mistakes because there must have things that they dont know.
I am not saying upsolute chip is no good. Just make sure you have everything ALL lined up before you make any move!!
Good Luck!!
