C240 Help

Hi everyone I am new to the mercedes world and I just recently got a 2002 c240 with 84k miles on it from my parents as a first car and I would like to make the car have a little more power but I'm mainly just trying to make it sound loud (have to impress my friends ) Can anyone give me any tips on what to get to improve the sound.

Thanks,
Dino

I say save your money and spend in on more adequate mods. Updated mirror covers, tints, new headlights, fog lights, suspension, rims and tires, etc. I don't think any non-AMG W203 sounds good with an exhaust. This is just my $0.02 though, and you can find a few threads on here about exhaust systems people have slapped onto their car.

An Eisenmann (their race version) will give you the loudest exhaust. After 10 years with it, though, it's a little much. The non-race version would be a better compromise.

You can fab up pretty much anything with an exhaust shop that knows its stuff. Remus is generally the muffler to get if you're going that route.

Replacing the drop-in air filter will change the sound a bit, but if you do a search, people are on the fence about their ability to clean the air and any hp claims (I had a K&N for years without issue, but when I changed up my airbox assembly, it came with a stock airfilter, so I just left it in - I never really felt an increase in hp with the K&N).

Headers will also increase the sound somewhat, but they're hard to come by and very expensive, with no real hp bump, so that would not really be worth the trouble.

Good luck.

Increasing power with a C240 cost effectively is impossible. Just rev the thing. They love to be revved.

Hyundai Accents love to be revved too. Doesn't mean that it's really fun in either case, though.
On a 240, it's generally best to just accept it for what is, imho.

Indeed!

It one of the sweetest engines Benz has ever made. Misunderstood by many who are used to stump pulling torque. Better than any I4.
