Rain Sensor Wipers?

Just wondering if it is possible and easy enough to add the rain sensor module to the wiper controls. I notice that all the fittings are there under the mirror. Also come to think of it what abou the auto dimming mirror?

auto dimming mirror is easy to add but need to research the sensor. I think it should work becuase people who have the sensor and disconnect it, the wipers still work!

Why would anyone disconnect the rain sensor wipers? Just turn them off.

Some people insist that the wipe time with the sensor is too much and they disconnect them so when they put the wiper switch to pos 1, it wipes at a preset interveral.

Ahh, didn't realize it would revert back to a conventional intermittant. Then is makes some (rain) sense!:p

I thinkthe rain sensor is built in to the windscreen. Therefore, adding it might require a diferent windscreen.

Pop the black cover off behind the rear view mirror. Disconnect the rain sensor and that's it.

the only way to turn the rain sensor off is to disconnect it.

Thanks.

I will try the preset conventional intermittant.

The lacking of an adjustment for the auto rain sensor makes
it not very useful.

I love the rain sensor option too. I leave my wipers on auto
all the time. It's weird though, when I start my car sometimes the wipers will wipe once. Sometimes when I start my car it doesn't wipe. This doesn't happen all the time but I just thought its weird. Anybody else notice this?

As convenient as it may be to leave your wipers on all the time, I would recommend against it. If the wiper goes across a dry windscreen and there is any type of dust or dirt present, it can scratch the glass. This may not be noticeable at first, but over time, it can leave many fine scratches.

I don't think it will wipe with the door open. You have to make sure the driver's door is closed.

wtf?

first....does the e 320 sport come with the rain sensing function? and how do i do it? does a crack in the windshield make the rain sensing function not work? does it have the rain window.....or the rain wiper? if it has the window and a crack north to south down the passenger side makes it unuseable....how much does the window cost?

please help!

My only complaint is when it is drizzling - like yesterday. My wipers were going full bore and they only needed to be going intermitant to keep the windshield clear.

There should be an adjustment for this...

kennahunt - you may have better luck on the appropriate E class forum.

So you want an adjustment for how the computer makes adjustments? The electronics in these cars are unreliable enough as is.

^ +1

But the times I have forgotten to turn it off, when I start the car in the morning again it does that weird wipe once... but then again there's dew on the windshield so....

Either way, you can adjust the sensitivity of it with STAR and make it less sensitive...just FYI
