c200k engine a pos...
drove my mom's c200k... after hearing her complain about the car...i checked it out last week. the engine is an absolute crap... first, we experienced a shuddering motion when u make a turn and step lightly on the gas mid-turn... like someone with a manual didn't feed enough gas when shifter...making the engine stutter... and second.. when left in d....on light gas maintaining slow speeds... the need to pass a car comes up... so u step on it... for a few seconds...the engine whirls...then the car hits it.... i'd call it a mega-supercharger lag...worse than turbo... even tho u'r not supposed to have lag in supercharged engines... what gives? my father's e200k doesn't do that... good thing they're both only leased cars....

is it superchrager lag? or throttle lag? because i get throttle lag quite a bit in both my c230 and my mom's e420. it's like you romp on the gas, count to 2, and then the engine revs and the car moves.

sorry...it's in taiwan... was back there for chinese new year.... ain't no need for speed in taiwan...
but anyway... is it throttle lag? when u step on the gas...i hear the engine rev...actually..sounded more like the supercharger whining, and then 2 sec later, u feel the power...

This "lag" .... is it the time it takes the car to downshift?? if it is I think it depends on the driver...if the driver normally drive the car slow then the car will adapt to the driver driving style...
Mine don't take a few seconds...normally its about 1 second or less for my car to downshift.

hmm..i had a feeling it could be the adaptive tranny .... it feels like someone had stepped the clutch...revved it...then dropped a gear or two and let the clutch go....except it takes such a long time.... and it's an automatic... never seen an auto do that... almost like the computer thinks..oh, is that what u want? wait lemme spool the supercharger for a few secs and then change gears...meanwhile the danger or circumstance in which u needed the extra gas is already bygones...
also, do u feel that hestitation when simply making a turn? the engine stutters....

I think the car adapted to your mom's driving style...maybe thats why it takes quite a while for it to downshift....
Now about the stuttering when making a turn....it never happened to me ... Once it stuttered on me when I stopped at the light like it was almost stalling...but luckily it was green light 1 second after that so I gave her a gas. That freaked me out cos I thought I had the fuel pump faulty again. A few days fater that I took the car to have service A, the dealer said nothing wrong with the pump and everything is fine.
Once I had my car towed to the dealer cos it wouldn't start...the culprit was the faulty fuel pump.
I think you better bring it to dealer and have it checked.

actually, what's being described sounds like something that happened to me a while back. i was getting off the freeway, and i stepped on the gas after making a turn, the engine revved to redline but the car didnt move more than a couple of feet. no traction control flashing, or sound of screeching tires. just no power with high revs. then it upshifted and all was normal. never happened since. no fault codes. so if it' like that, then it's not throttle lag, or s/c lag, but a tranny glitch.

no...it didn't shift...we weren't even giving it much gas...not going fast either...maybe like 10 mph...in fact...i think that may have been the problem... it seems like the ecu isn't giving the car enough gas...making it stumble...
