Shake at high speeds 75+
Hey guys!
I have a MB 2006 c230 that I just picked up. I'm rather new with MB and had a few questions.
When I'm on the highway going excess of 75+ mph I notice the car starts to have a constant tremble and the faster I go the more violently it gets. I feel like the car is just going to break! It's so odd to me because it only does this at those speeds. The car feels very smooth under 75 it's perfectly fine.
Also, I noticed when I'm slowing down to a complete stop the car seems to jerk quite noticeably specifically 2nd and 1st (sports mode). Wondering if that was normal?
I'm new to MB and this community hope to find some help!
Thanks guys!

Not sure about the jerking during the downshift, as I am unfamiliar with this model. But. . . vibration at speed makes my head immediatly go to tires and balancing issues. Have the wheels been curbed? Out of round? Otherwiese beat to S$$t? That would be the first place I would look. When was the last time the wheels were balanced? You might solve your problem with a 50 wheel balance.

Since you just got the car I would also check the bushings and ball joints in the front end as well as shocks.
As for transmission issues if your a DIY type person flush the transmission out if you do it yourself you can do it for under $100. The transmission should be serviced every 39k

also check if the parking brake lever under the rear seat is releasing completely and not seized up, this will make a massive amount of vibration and noise if the P-brakes are not completely released

The down shift jerking between 1st and 2nds seems normal from all the C230 V6 I have driven and C230 Kompressor I own. Since these cars have engine braking if you fully remove your foot off the throttle it can get abrupt when coming to a full stop suddenly. I usually coast a little bit with my foot just on the throttle prior to a full stop especially in heavy traffic. I have a lead foot and heel toeing the gas and brake in this car in traffic feels just terrible. These cars also have a transmission which adapt to your driving style over a few hundred miles or so. Since it sounds like you recently got this car you may need to reset the transmission memory as follows:
-Get in car and turn the key in the ignition to the on position-position before the car starts.
-Once the key is in this position fully depress the throttle with for about 10-15 seconds.
-Next keep your foot on the throttle and turn the key to the off position-position where you would pull the key out. (Do not remove the key from the ignition).
-Now take your foot off the throttle and leave the key in the ignition. At this point you want to leave the key in the ignition for 2-5 minutes. Do not touch anything with in this time period, don't turn the radio on, don't open the window, don't open the door. Do nothing! The memory will be reset and will adapt to your driving over the next few hundred miles or so.
There is a video on Youtube were the guy says 2,3,4,5 minutes or so. I usually go 5 minutes since I can be texting or talking on my phone etc.
