2002 C230 Coupe
Cool C230 Coupe MagnaFlow Cat Back System

Magna Flow is going to use my C230 Coupe to Prototype the Cat Back they are designing for it.

I was curious to know if there were other Coupe owners that would be interested in the unit when it becomes available.

They are talking 18-20 additional HP with no other mods.

If they can provide independent dyno charts of before and after, and show that the exhaust makes 18-20 hp across the board, then I'd be interested.

I'd then believe in the tooth fairy, leprechauns, and Steve Guttenburg still having a career in films.

I honestly don't believe that they could get those kind of results, but I'd be delighted to be proven wrong. Keep us posted, and post pics as well when it's done.

Depends on what it sounds like and if they can document even half that improvement on a dyno.

18 - 20 HP???? I have to see the dyno charts to believe that.. I just can't see that much horse power from a Cat Back exhaust on a C230K... Now if there was no Cats on the C230 and the MagnaFlow Cat Back Exhaust even than maybe .. But i just don't see that much HP improvements.. The most i can see is 5-7HP...

I am highly sceptical, too. The high end German tuners only claim 3 to 4 hp gains from their exhaust systems.

cat back

i can believe that much of an increase in hp with a cat back it sounds normal. the renntech cat back is alomost similar to that. and Lynn 3 to 4 hp i dont think that you would ever get that littlt hp from a cat back maybe thats just a muffler.

On a C7 car all there is to change is a muffler. There is just a piece of exhaust pipe between the cat and the muffler. Hell, there are V-8's that don't gain 20 hp with headers and high flow mufflers.

If a cat-back exhaust system gains over 8HP, especially when that is almost a 5% gain, on a new model car, I would suggest that you get it verified on a different Dyno. Many exhaust companies post unachievable gains.

As for letting them use your car. As long as they don't screw anything up or charge you, I'd say go for it! At the very least, you'll get a free exhaust system that just may be worth it.

Plus, it's MAGNA FLOW. Kinda cheezy to put that kinda stuff on your Benz don't you think?

That kind of stuff is usually reserved for cheezy rice boys.

Next thing you know...Mercedes owners will be putting RActive stuff on their cars!

Yes, Mach, but I bet they're Kleemann stickers, and they're not yellow... even though yellow adds anywhere from 10 to 50 horsepower.

Yeah, but I have a 1998 Integra Type-R that's Turbocharged.

I didn't put the sticker on...it came with the car.

In fact, I didn't put ANY stickers on my car at all.

NOT A SINGLE ONE.

Never put any RActive or Magna Flow items on my car.

Never put fake HID bulbs in either. I got REAL HID's instead.

I'm selling the car in 2 months anyway, so who cares.

Right now, just Evosport stickers. And they don't have Powered By written in front of them

I'm in for the exhaust if it can make my C230 sounds like an Integra TypeR. Although I won't put stickers on my car or baby on board signs or bobbing head dog on my rear shelf not matter how much faster it makes my car.

Last night I saw the ultimate exhaust. An old Escort made a turn from a side street into my lane. There was a blue glow from under the bumper. I thought he had neon under the car. Nope, when I stopped behind it at the next light, the neon was a circular neon tube inside the fart can.

true

i guess that is true i would never put a magna flow exhaust on my benz. But KJ-Type R how much u seelin your car for. i always liked integra type R's especially if they were turbo charged. I know that that car would be able to beat all of our c230 coupes with or with out stickers.

Hey KJ you got a webpage? Id like to check out what mods you did. Why did you turbo your car? Isnt the compression a bit too high. Why not all motor? Do you have any slips from the track? Just curious. Im working on a all motor integra with my friend thats why.

About the Magna Flow... whatever floats your boat. Try it, if its for free who cares. If you dont like it, then take it off later. If I were you I would get it. When I had my BMW, Stromung prototyped my car and then built me a custom exhaust at cost, the way I wanted it. (this is cuz the muffler they were prototyping was ugly and i didnt like it) I saved $450 on it and made $150 of profit on it when I sold it 3 years afterwards.

Actually, I'm one of those guys that likes to keep my setup and stuff low key so I don't have a website. I'm a little paranoid about having my car jacked. It's happened to a few friends of mine...not good. (insurance doesn't cover any of the mods).

I turbo'd my car because going all motor was costing too much for too little gains. My best dyno run all motor was 176whp and 131torque with Intake, Header, Exhaust.

Power with the Turbo was much better.

268WHP 12.8sec @ 109.4MPH (1/4 mile)

Compression is a little high, that's why I bought a J&S Safeguard to help retard ignition timing as required. This helps keep it at a safer level. I got 1 step colder plugs, an ignitition system and 94 octane to help keep the engine from detonating.

I'm running a Drag Gen III kit...it's pretty much bolt on...nothing much left to add. I did buy a Tial wastegate because the Deltagate wastegate that came with it sucked.

If your friend is going all motor, there is good power there with the right parts. TODA makes some good cams for the car that he might wanna check out.

2002 C230 Coupe
Thanks Brabus - That's kind of the way I looked at it - Free HP and it's designed the way I want.

I figure if you all keep talking enough smack about it - MagnaFlow should really be incensed to do a phat job on it.

The RennTech Exhaust is nice, put it's nothing more than a muffler. The Cat Back will really let the engine breath.

Hey Hustler if you get it done let me check it out. I noticed you are in OC. I go down all the time. We can meet up or you can come out to the next meet. Its supposed to be in the first week of May. Hopefully you can get your exhaust by then.

KJ he got some Skunk type2 cams already, hehe. I know what you mean cuz he had his car stolen once already. He never tells anyone what he has on his car. We keep it low pro. So far it has 194 whp and we are hoping for about 20 more hp from injectors, intake manifold, with port match throttle body.

194 WHP is really good man! What does he use for fuel management?

2002 C230 Coupe
Thumbs up Thanks Brabus

Get me the info on the meet - I'd like to get there and check it out.

I also wanted to get your input on the HR Springs. I am looking at picking up a set for the Coupe but a lot of people are telling me they are real stiff and that Eibach might be a better compromise.

I don't mind stiff supension, but I still need to drive my car alot and I don't want to kill the ride too much.

I also want to know if anyone has seen coil overs for the C230 Coupes yet.
