Disabling emergency turn signals

Is there a way to disable your fogs from being used as a turn signal when the main turn bulbs blow?

Yes you can but you have to go to the dealer for it and disable bulb substitution feature in the system. It's a saftey feature they added for all vital bulbs.

It is a safety feature. Why would you want to disable it?

i didnt know about the bulb substitution feature on turn signals.

but i do know that if a turn signal bulb blew, the ticker inside your car would tick at double-speed, just like any other car.

but look at it outside, and it's still running at regular speed.. save from the embarassment of a dead bulb

also, at the rear, if for example, your left tail lamp bulb blows, it'll substitute it with another bulb from your left cluster. the right side will match so that it'll be even

Re: Re: Disabling emergency turn signals

I would like to diable it because I am planning on putting HIDs in my fogs, but fear that if a bulb blew my ballast will fry...

AMG BRED - something to watch out for.

Yes yes, I was hoping it was somewhere in the DAS settings... but the problem is that the Merc mechanics at the dealers whould know that such an option existed unless someone game me explicit instructions on how to get to that page. It took me weeks in vain trying to explain to them about the Stage 2 settings (pullied car) but they insisted it didn't exist... until I found Buell's post and pic, I printed it out and showed it to them much to their amazement and my amusement.

The only thing they're good at is using the expensive DAS machine to play Solitaire.

Just don't be lazy and replace your blown bulbs - how hard can this be??? If you install LED bulbs, they will last forever - LEDs never burn out.
