Absolutely, I only want DVD based. Otherwise I will do command. I will be checking these out over the weekend. I have only seen these online so far.

As far as the price and quality go, I always prefer Alpine than Pioneer. Pioneer is good but in my opinion not better than Alpine. Alpine is more solid...Also, pioneer products usually have higher MSRP but they usually sell way off MSRP. On the other hand, I couldn't really find any sources that sell Alpine for much less than MSRP. The premier (high-end pioneer) may be better, I don't know.

I can't say one good thing about Command except that it works with the factory wheel buttons.

tifosiv122,
Your system looks very nice and frankly I'm quite interested. I have a few questions though, if you don't mind.
I noticed in your pic that the screen is blocking the AC vents and upper console area. Is there a reason it should be installed that way, or could you flip the installation so that when the screen comes up it doesn't block as much real estate?
As to the screen deploying, is it always up when the radio is at all powered? Do you bring it up to access the navigation or can you simply use the voice prompts wthout screen at all?
Following that, once I set a destination can I retract the screen and go by voice prompt?
Can you control the radio and or CD/etc using the steering wheel buttons? (seems like you couldn't but odder things have happened).
Does the screen dim when the headlights are on? It'd seem to be awfully glarish at night trying to drive (which is part of why I asked about voice prompt w/o screen).
All in all, how much do you really use it, anyways? After all, you probably know the route between home and work by now.
Any other impressions or tidbits you'd like to share?
Regards,
-Bouncer-

"Frankly, I wish Mercedes would scrap COMAND, and BMW would bag iDrive. Both of these multifunction electronic-control systems distract drivers from the act of driving, which is ironic given that the Germans for so long refused to put cupholders in their cars for that very reason. At any rate M-B's COMAND system has never been user-friendly; at least it's optional. In BMW's favor the 6 is available with wireless Bluetooth technology and iDrive's navigational map is large and easier to use then the CLK's.
