Well, I have finally grown up........

After two WRXs, I have made the jump to the Euro scene. My WRXs were tastefully modded, a blast to drive, and were unique cars. However, I finally jumped into my true passion: a German Sports Sedan. My '04.5 C230K w/ 6MT should be here by Wednesday (White w/ Charocoal). It is a bit slow compared to what I am used to, but it is a well sorted, beautiful car.

Yeah when I was 17 me and my buddy were driving an IROC with 500 horsepower and 600 ft/lb of torque...

It all comes with the territory. In ten years you will be in a CLK 55, lol, unless a wife, kids, and house come into the mix, lol...

Have fun with the new ride. Get it dropped, and add some sway bars for starters. It is a boat stock.

Thanks for the kind responses......a bit more mature than the Subie boards. NASIOC.com has some of the toughest guys on the Internet you know . Anyhow, yes I am now 24 and driving a Yellow WRX isn't cool anymore no matter how fast it was. I learned alot about modding from my two WRXs. I have been a German Car diehard for years and actually have been following the Euro Tuning scene much more than the Sport Compact scene. I do subscribe to Euro Tuner which the worst mag I have ever read, but I also get European Car and raid the B&N rack also occassionally. I will need help on final decisions but I am leaning towards a matching set of Springs and Dampers first (Brabus?) and a Lorinser Roof Spoiler. I am still not sure about performance mods. I do put 35,000 miles a year on my cars. Any recommendations for an ECU / Pulley / Exhaust combo?

ECU: Power Chips or Upsolute

Pulley: Carlsson, maybe

Exhaust: Supersprint will have a header available in a few months.

Make sure you get an extended warranty; it saved me 1400.00 when my motor mounts went south!

Congrats. I use to own an IS300 turbocharged with all the goodies. Fun to drive and especially when JDM stuff are cheap and affordable. Once you start getting into modding the mercedes, WOW...Thats puts a deep hole in your wallet... but good luck with the car. For sure you will notice the price difference between modding euro cars and Japanese car

True dat! I was modding Turbo 'Clipses and Celicas 3 yrs ago. I thought that was expensive...low and behold my tab on my Mercedes hits 30k!! All fun though. Euro mods are of better quality and rides surpass any Jap modified car. Good luck w/your purchase and dont get too discouraged quick on the availability of motor mods.

About modded suspensions: I drive alot, mainly on the awful roads in down town Philly. My WRX was lowered w/ Eibachs and wore 17" OZ SLs. It has/had the worst ride quality imaginable. I am hoping that with the Benz, even on the bad roads, that a quality aftermarket suspension would still be comfortable. I do like a firm ride, just not one that broke a rib everytime I hit a pothole like in my Subie. Reviews on Coilovers and Spring/Strut combos would be appreciated. One thing I won't change is rim size.

Over rough roads the semi sport tuned suspension and 17 inch wheels will give you a semi rougher ride than a normal comfy Benz, but the seats and build quality will make it better feeling than the WRX. The factory suspension is decent but I am sure you will want at least stiffer sways to compare the cornering to the WRX. I have a 2003 C230 Sport Coupe and driving the PA roads is actually quite tolerable, while still having a sporty feel. I am going to get at least the C32 sways in the future to make the baby benz roll a little less in the corners though. Good luck on your purchase and I am sure you will love the car and her ride. Not as quick as a WRX but it can still perform very nicely, especially on the highway......

I only posted on NASIOC. ClubWRX has too many of the "ricers" and young punks that gave our cars a bad name in my opinion. I have been posting on those boards since January of '01.

.
Welcome aboard. I think you mentioned that you hve one of the newer C230K sedans? If that is so, then your susp is already lowered similar to a Eibach spring kit. If you want to go lower, then the H&R Cup Kit or even a coilover will suit your needs. I am happy with the stock setup. Not too harsh and is slightly lowered. Ignore my sig, Brabus-C photoshopped it to make it look low.

I thought the one I test drive looked lowered. All of my mods mentioned are all premature of course as my car won't actually be in until Tuesday. I am very interested in a pully, chip, and exhaust though because I know the lack of power will take a getting used to. Thanks for all the input.
