Join the Benz ranks with this used c class wagon

Somebody hit our accord as it was parked on the street and fled the scene... The police is still looking but chances are slim they'll find the perp. The silver lining is that we get a chance to join the ranks of other Benz owners, something we have planned on for a VERY long time. We are looking for a used wagon, somewhere below like 12 grand. I found this in my area:
https://bozeman.craigslist.org/cto/5390039691.html

Is that a decent purchase? What am I looking for and what is reasonable to expect in terms of cost of ownership?

Thanks all you guys for your support!!

Is that a matter of preference or is it because there's something wrong with that generation/year of C classes?

Thanks!

A 240 wagon is a slug. You sure you want something that underpowered for MT's terrain?

No, tbh I figured it would go like stink compared to my 99 accord it would replace. That car's transmission has been driving me nuts and it has like 90 horeses left after all these years lol.

Is the 240 not a good car?

It's just not a fun car. If you're just looking for a mule to replace the Accord, fine, but it's not going to put a big grin on your face to do so.

At least the 2005s don't have the gremlins of the earlier years.

How about putting a supercharger on top of that V6?

Why is that putting out so little power anyway? BMW has a 3L V6 from that same time that puts out 250 horses

Because BMWs put out and Benzes suck.
If that's what you want, wouldn't a 3 series Xi station wagon be a better choice?

The 240 really should have been put out to pasture far earlier than it was.

I agree... I wouldn't pay that much for a used 240...nor would I want one.
I WANTED a wagon when I ordered mine, but MBUSA wouldn't sell me a Sport / Avantgarde edition...

Anyway, my comment is purely based on with that cash or a little more a really nice w211 could be had...an E350 would be great...an E500 would move...but...personally I would be always skeptical of the air suspension...the E will give you more room, tech and such...I tried getting my wife into one...we have a Town&Country...which I admit I love for what it is, it is a great practical machine!

Good luck!
