Shop tool engine oil dipstick problem
Hello!
I have bought a shop tool engine oil dipstick for my 2003 C180 (it does not have a dipstick as standard).
But it is like it gets stuck after maybe 25cm.
What might be the problem? I would be very happy if anyone can help me.
The partnumber is 120 589 0621 00 O.

Do you understand that this dipstick requires to be bottomed against a plate in the sump & read once bottomed. It does not push down to a stop flange on the dipstick itself like a conventional "stay in place" dipstick.

Same here. Ordered an aftermarket one and didn't fit the dipstick tube. First thought was that the aftermarket was different (thicker or something). I stopped by an authorised Mercedes Service and asked them to try their original one. It was exactly the same and couldn't fit the dipstick tube either. They told me that there's no solution to this and that I could only rely on the oil level sensor's readings which had been out of range by at least 0.5 litres. I finally replaced the oil level sensor during the last oil change and everything is fine now. I really wanted the dipstick to work though. It is always accurate.
