Panoramic Sunroof Lubricant(s) - Part #?

Hoping someone with EPC access can answer this question. I can't get a straight answer from my dealership (different SA, different product recommended).

According to a document I have (AP77.20-P-7732PB Panoramic sliding roof - clean and lubricate guide mechanism, dated 12.3.01 which I assume is 12 March 2001), there are 2 products to be used:

A0010905051 Special sliding roof sliding compound
A0019891451 Lubricant

For the 1st product, the 2 times I went to the dealer, they recommended 2 different products. One was a gooey white compound (didn't get the part # unfortunately) which I didn't pick up at the time as it cost some $300+. When I returned a few days later and asked another parts guy, he recommended a bottle of A0009893660 "Special sliding compound, lubrication oil" (printed on the label). However, the invoice says "Mold lubricant", and this product is clear and not too viscous at all. I have a feeling this is actually meant for the rubber seals instead, but the parts guy insisted it's the correct one.

For the 2nd lubricant A0019891451, the parts guy says it has been superseded with A0019894651, but wasn't sure. He produced a can of the stuff, but it was sealed so I couldn't look inside to see if it matched the brown stuff currently smeared all over my sunroof mechanism from the factory.

Nobody seems to know anything about W203s anymore. Guessing the cars are too old now. Can someone knowledgeable please post the new correct numbers?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings Slammer111,

Wow, $300 from Mercedes-STEALERSHIP! Well, some things never change,... actually, I thought the price was just over $100 a few years ago (or maybe that was the VW/audi version,.... yeah, a number of car manufacturers are just relabeling and reselling the grease for their huge pano-sunroofs and hardtops),... anyways,... here's some notes I've kept over the years,...

The A001-989-50-51 Mercedes stuff is just relabelled Dupont Krytox GPL-105 (clear lubricant); GPL-205 is easier to find and same as GPL-105 except its white grease version. They're easily found on ebay and your local chemical wholesaler. I got 2oz Dupont Krytox GPL-105 for about $35-40 at a local chemical wholesaler near Toronto's airport,... 2oz is way more than a lifetime supply,... a little goes a long way!

001 989 50 51 MB Special Lubricant (Dupont Krytox GPL-105 oil) - For lubricating outer guide rail of panorama roof (Special Sliding Roof Compound)
PN 0019895051 also known as Dupont Krytox (GPL105).
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...9895051-a.html

The Chemical Abstracts Index (CAS) name for Krytox fluorinated oils is oxirane trifluoro (trifluoromethyl)-homopolymer, and the CAS Registry Number is 60164-51-4.

Dupont Krytox GPL150. It's actually what MB uses, but is hard to find - and yes, you want GPL150. There are about 100 different formulations, and finding GPL150 for less than MB's price is pretty hard.

Here's an interesting post from MovieLA "The proper lubricant is A 000 989 36 60(or what ever has been superceded) but it is expensive. I had to take MBUSA to the OSHA woodshed to get the MSDS for it. Turns out it is from Dupont. Krytox GPL 105. Spacecraft stuff. You can get it on Ebay too! Krytox is a lubricant that is chemically inert. It won't rip, rattle, tear, run down at the heels, stink, or smell bad. It is safe to use on all seals and sliding surfaces.
I put it on with a gloved finger, or a dispenser bottle with a steel needle tip. Thinner viscosities in GPL 104 and GPL 103 are better for needle application. There is also a paste form GPL 205 that is good where you need a full bodied lube."

001 989 14 51 MB Lubrication Paste
001 989 46 51 MB Lubrication Paste - For cleaning outer/inner channel, shift gate, pivot arm of wind deflector of top sliding roof (panorama roof)
As I recall, these are sold in huge containers - much more than a sane individual would need, so I passed on them and just use my Dupont Krytox instead!

Yes Krytox and grease.
i bought the grease from...need to check, 10 bucks for a little tiny canister that I
finally used up last year.
I still have tons of the Krytox. I could put it in a syringe and sell some to you, if i
had a syringe. All you need is a drop here and there like once a year.
PM me. I have the actual Mercedes stuff. I could part with 5 or 10 ml.
and still have enough to last me.

^ Thanks for the offer, but I found it at the dealer for a "reasonable" $70 (30 mL) from the stealer after discount. "Mercedes KY" as my friends call it. You're right though. I'm set for life with this amount, if one only needs 6 drops a year.

Now to pick up the other grease A0019894651. Looks like ECS Tuning carries repackaged containers of this stuff for $10 USD. Not bad at all! Now to pick up more stuff for free shipping.
