In Europe, it appears that Sport models have a short-throw shifter. Did you have a chance to try a manual? If so, opinions?
Did you have a chance to drive the C230k? If so, what are the changes in ride quality/steering precision/etc?
What did you think of the quality of the new interior plastics?
Is the driver's seat more comfortable than the old one?
Thanks in advance!
I think the 2005 interior upgrades are subtle, but effective. There's definitely a more upmarket look, and material quality seemed good. I'm usually not a big fan of aluminum trim in cars, but the new pattern in this C230K was attractive. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but there is a slight tecture to the trim (very thin horizontal lines). The new gauges look great, and the not only do the new buttons on the center console look better, but have a higher quality feel as well. The new seats were also nice, and they had lumbar support (though the control was plasticy...but that's just being overly critical).
I would love to see some pictures showing the AMG kit on the exterior.
Aside from the front bumper, the 2005 C230K sedan looks pretty much the same. The front bumper is similar to the one on the current C32 AMG.
Other slight changes:
1) A chrome strip running along the bottom of the windows.
2) Clear lens headlamps on non-xenon cars (similar to non-xenon CLK lights...no projector).
3) I'm not sure if this is a change, but the moldings on the side of the car and on the bumpers also had a chrome strip.
4) Slight modifications to the taillamps and the mirror indicators.
You mentioned that the bumper looked like a 2004 C32's. Coulkd it be the "AMG appearance package" that I have read about on some European sites.
Is the alu trim different from the current model's?
I don't know about the AMG package in the European C-Class, but American cars have different equipment, options and packages than European models.

What does the "NEW 2005 C-230 Sport Sedan" front bumper looks like?

The new 2005 C230 & C320 – “Sport Sedans” will have AMG bodywork as a standard feature to distinguish it from the luxury (non-sport) models.
The first PIC closely resembles what it will look like. Clear lenses of course.
