DVD/Screen Unit

Hey I was wondering if anyone has experience with this, I currently have a CLK (w209) which has the same radio setup and interior as the C-class. I was wondering if anyone here who has audio 10 was able to install a headunit with those pop-out screens without removing their OEM radio or losing their radio controls on their steering wheel. I just want the screen to play DVDs/MP3s, I already have the OEM CD PLayer and I still want to use that too. Thanks for your help.

Yes it is possbile but you'll have to fabricate a switch box to split audio outputs.

Seen it done too. BUT IMHO it will look rather funky. The only prob I see is the splitting of audio between the stock head unit and the dvd player.....if it is run straight from the dvd unit then you will automatically loose steering controls no??

Lorinser, I think it will look nice, I am thinking about removing that small compartment under the radio, then moviing the radio unit down, then putting the flip out screen where the radio used to be.

I had another question, if I got the switch to go from the DVD to the audio 10, could I still watch movies on the DVD while I am listening to the radio (meaning just have the video output of the DVD, not the audio output).

P.S. Anyone know a place in Los Angeles that can do a job like this without charging me a grip of money?

Anything is possible, it's just about the $$$. As far as video/audio split, I can't see why not.

As I come to learn...dont skimp on the price. Get a place where people RECOMMEND not the cheapest. Trust me I been burned for being cheap back then. I tried a shop called All star Auto Sound in North Hollywood this time around. They were EXCELLENT.
