Any members in San Diego?
I am pretty new to the forum. I just ordered my brilliant silver C230k Kompressor with the C5, C7, and changer. It is due here in late May. I have become so interested in my future car since the day I stepped into the dealer showroom. I was wondering if there were any members in the San Diego area or more specifically the East County area. I would love to look at their cars, and get ideas, and just talk to them about their cars/experiences. anyway I have been glued to this site ever since i found it.

C32 AMG
Initially, my order was held at Hoehn MB in Carlsbad because it was recommended to me over closer dealers. Everyone there was especially nice and treated me well. This was my first experience with Mercedes, so it was well received coming from BMW dealers. I regarded BMW as neither poor nor excellent in service, it was basically what I compared everything else to. MB comes out favorably in this comparison, but you already knew that.
I realized Carlsbad is a little too far away for frequent visits, so I cancelled my deposit and moved over to MB of Escondido. This caused me to start at the bottom of the wait list again. I could have easily bought the car from Hoehn and serviced it at Escondido, but the extra two months wait I don't mind because of other unexpected expenses.
I did not shop around, but if you want a C32 right away, there is not much choice as to which dealer you can purchase from (you take what is in stock, if anything). There is some room for negociating with the C32 though, either off the lot or ordered to spec. I missed buying an example three weeks ago. I was coming in to look at an unclaimed C32, drive it, and then probably try to strike a deal. I made an appointment first thing in the morning, but as it turned out, another salesman sold the car the night before. My salesman could not do anything about it because he did not work that night.
I guess I continue to wait...

2002 C230K 120K Miles Just as good as new
Clint,
I live in Downtown San Diego, and I have an Orion Blue C230K that was delivered in February. I have almost 4000 miles on it already, and I am very happy with it. I think that you will be happy with yours also.
I got the 6-speed, but not the C7 package.
I bought it from Mercedes Benz of San Diego, primarily because it was closest to my home.
Good luck,
Richard

i ordered mine at MB of San Diego also. My sales guy was Craig. He was totally cool, I have a question for you, when you take your car in for service, someone told me that they were giving toyota corola's instead of the ML320. do you know anything about this. I would love to see your car some time.

MBSD Service
Clint,
I haven't taken my car in for service yet. They have Mercedes loaners (I see mostly ML's) as well as other cars - I'm not sure what kind.
A friend of mine wanted to take his (W202) C230 sedan in for service at MBSD, and there was an 18 day wait for service. He took it to Heinz Geitz in La Jolla instead. They are authorized for warranty service.
E-mail me if you want to get together.

Fortunately for me, MB Escondido is close (for my wife's E320 wagon) - she has had great luck & been treated well consistantly. ML's, C's, and E's for a loaner every time. I drive right past MB Laguna Niguel (where I bought my CLK55) on my way to work, so I use them - good work, nice people, always an ML or an E available. I've also used Hoehn MB in Carlsbad, my second favorite (after MB Laguna Niguel), but they're out of the way for me.
Good luck!

San Diego's Driving Roads
A couple of weeks after I got my car I drove the entire length of State Route 94 - started Downtown and ended up at I-8 in Jacumba. It was late Saturday Night, and there were no cars on the road. That was a great introduction to the handling and tranmission characteristics of the car - plus I won $15 at a Golden Acorn blackjack table on the way back!
I have also started to explore the desert. I came back from Palm Springs through Salton Sea and Borrego Springs. That was a nice drive, and it seemed too short in this car!

If you want a great drive try Hwy 79. It is a great drive through the mountains. Go Hwy 8 East, and exit Japatul exit. Left on Japatul, Left on Hwy 79. This is a very scenic drive with some tight and fun twisties. You will pass Lake Cuyamaca on your way to Jullian. Jullian is a great place to spend an afternoon. It has excellent apple pie. There are little shops for souviniers. There is an alternate route back down past dudleys bakery in Santa Isabel. You will go through Romana and can take either Poway Rd. or Scripps Valley Parkway if you want to end up in the north county.

If you are interested in drives
Autowerksexpress often hosts weekend drives in San Diego for Mercedes and BMW.... mostly BMW guys though.... but we go for drives and lunch once a month.
The route varies.. but last time we went to Julian...

2001 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner
Hey Fellow San Diego C-Class Owners. Yup I picked up my C-coupe in February and currently have 1500 miles on it. It's a blast of a car to drive. The car is a 230K w/C5, C7, auto, silver and charcoal leather, and a 5 disk changer. I got the car from Mercedes-Benz of Laguna Niguel, the big draw there for me was their Star Member Program, plus the good sales staff there that sold my brother's E55, and my dad's c280. I'll post picks later.
