C Class W203 Faulty Fuel Guage

C Class W203 Faulty Fuel Guage
I have a C class W203 2001 model the fuel guage has started to play up by not showing more than 7/8 full no matter how much fuel you try and put in it.
Is this a common problem or is it just my car?
Is it easly fixed?

That's a very common problem on the new C-class, and a lot of Benzes in general. The 202 C-class, CLK, ML, and 210 E-Class all have had problems with the fuel senders.

I'll fill up at the gas station and it will show about 15/16'ths. After that, when I drive up the windy hilly road to get to my house, it will show full 1/1.
Anyway, if it gets any weirder than that, I'll have the dealer fix it. As it is, it seems pretty close to normal.

Mine was built in December 01 and the gauge was wacky as soon as I picked it up. It was fixed in a day (after the dealer ordered the part). Make sure your dealer has the part in stock before you drop it off.

Same problem in my C32...
It's going in tomorrow for a tank swap. The original plan was to just swap the sending unit but the engineer vetoed that. Why, I don't know.
From what I have been told the rear sub-frame must be removed, so its a day and a half job...
I was watching the thing the other day when it went from 1/2 a tank to 0/0 in about 2 seconds. MFD came on etc. The odd thing was as I watched it, the range steadily increased. Filling it took 8.5 gals.
