my xp trying to get the Evolution floor mats... (long and maybe humorous)
i'm trying to get these evolution floor mats - in black - from canada b/c they have the sport package...
called mb canada main number who referred me to a local dealer...
called local toronto dealer and the parts guy has no idea what i'm talking about.
"i have a c230k," i say.
"a what?" asks the parts guy.
"c 2 3 0 k"
"what does the k stand for"
"um, kompressor..."
"oh, you have a C! we call that a CL."
"but, it's not a CL..."
"yes, but we call the 2-door a CL."
"ok." i wanted to ask what they call the CL but i didn't want to lose focus here.
"so can i get the evolution floor mats?"
"revolution? i've never heard of that..."
"no, Evolution. it has a logo on it."
"what? we got mats. CAN$171."
"i want the Evolution mats."
"i don't know what that is. i've never heard of it. where did you hear of it?"
"a friend of mine has them. it has a dead pedal flap. i want the same ones." dngan, i hope you don't mind when i used your car as an example

Regarding young's adventure, I sometimes wonder if the MB service/parts guys miss the days when there were only something like three basic chassis to work on.

I have inquired about them in past and AFAIKR they had them, let me know if you want me to find out.

Well, I phoned my parts guy and it appears that they can get the Evo mats, but they need your VIN# to confirm interior color.
The price they gave me was approx 192CAD (about 120USD), but that's for the C32 AMG
Sounds dumb that they ask for the VIN#, but this is how they're able to look up parts in their system.
If you require charcoal mats I can use my VIN# as that's what I have.

As far as I have researched, in Canada we can get the Evolution mats in any of the 2 std. colours. My dealer sells them for 192CAD + 7%tax, which is about 128USD for a set of 4.
When galaxygirl finds out the part numbers, perhaps they can be ordered in the US as well. If not, you may want to get them from here.

It seems that these are special order parts, so my friend needs to do some digging and he said he will need a few days.
Young, BTW, so you know, I know need to lug a couple bottles of Lost Coast Downtown Brown (a local beer) with me to the East Coast for this. Wonder if it will raise an eyebrow or two at airport security?

i find it odd that we get these codes for the packages while everyone else gets names like evo, classic, elegance, etc. and when i checked canada's site, the evo package's description is the same but includes the mats! why is it left out here? i don't know...

I know my dealer has the part# for the Audio10 CD. They didn't have them stock, but ordered one for me from Germany. They placed the order on a tuesday and had the player next day. I'll soon bring my car in for first service and I will then try to get the part# for it. But I hope you know that the radio will be pretty useless in US, due to use of differnt frequency bands in Europe/US.
Anyway, I'll see what I can do.

As promised, guys here are the part numbers. There is one Quartz set in a US warehouse, otherwise the mats need to be shipped from Germany.
Quartz (silver/grey) set: 203 680 28 40 8G76
Anthracite (black) set: 203 680 28 40 9B57

i called clairparts and Arthur is looking into it...
the bad news is that he thinks the part numbers are the floor lining... cost list of $200. (he says he can sell it fo $166). but he's going to call MB and make sure that they are the evolution floor mats. but even at $166, that is too much!
canada's prices are cheaper...
the funny thing is, arthur and i agreed that for $200, they'd better be damn fine mats!!!
