Trick hood!

This is so cool! When you open the hood of the C230, check out the right hydraulic support. There's a red button that says "Push." When you push the button, you can raise the hood to a full 90 degrees! What a great idea!

My 1985 Benz had a release on the hood supports to allow the hood to be raised to a full 90 degrees. I wonder how long this has been a feature on MB?

I have a C230K Sport Coupe, I can't get that red button to release. Is there some trick to it?
I tried with the hood partially open and fully open but pushing in the red button does nothing.

With the hood fully open, push up on the hood slightly with your left hand, push the button with your right. This will allow you to continue to push the hood up into the the fully open position where you'll hear it lock into place once it's fully extended.

This has been a feature on all Mercedes' cars for the longest time.

If they couldn't raise the hood all the way up, how would they drop in a replacement engine? =)

Push the button again. If you look closely, you can see how the mechanism works.

yea ren is right, its different on the w211 though. i wish there was a "push button" on the w211 you have to push a small latch on one side, then go to the other side and do the same.
