Facelift C-class encountering COMAND delay?

Just wanted to see if anyone else on the forum who has a facelift C-class on order with COMAND heard that the COMAND option is "delayed availability". Am I the only one?

That's because the new Comand is DVD, worth the wait.

Agreed that it's worth the wait. Do you or does anyone happen to know how long "the wait" will be?

Just heard back from the dealer that the delay has been lifted, and that the computer has accepted the COMAND into the order. Will update this thread if the situation changes.

Remember the W211 fiasco.

Did the stealer verify the DVD based system? The German pricelist I downloaded shows both, the DVD and the CD systems.

true, true. but even it takes just as long as it did for the W211, which i wouldn't be suprised if it did, i think for a DVD based navi is still worth the wait. you could always retrofit afterwards like alot of people here have, including myself.

i guess ultimately if you can't wait, order the car, get and retro fit later when they are available.

amdeutsch, I have the German price list as well, and, if I interpreted it right, option 525 (CD-navigation) is not called "COMAND", instead, it's called "Audio 50". I shall verify that the option that has been added to my order is indeed the DVD-COMAND (option 527).

You are correct. My bad. I guess I just got used to the term with all the retrofits etc. Wonder what MB will call it over here if they go that route with all their cost saving measures. (Just thinking out loud )

Not entirely sure, it would seem that "Audio 50" might be a non-TFT LCD based navigation (kind of like the one Jaguars used to have, I thnk it was made by Blaupunkt). Further searching of the forums says that option codes for COMAND vary by region, so I can't just ask the dealer if it's option 527 that's on the order. Oh well, I shall get to the bottom of this either way.

Might you by any chance know if it's possible to special-order options like Parktronic? I really want it, like, really.

If its not on the approved US option sheet then you won't. Some on here have purchased it afterwards from MBenzNL and then installed it. You might want to search for "sunman" on here. He has done it.

I guess BMW gets the upper hand in this regard then - you can get any option they offer anywhere (on the same car model), and any paint color they've ever offered (some limitations), provided you have patience and the money to cover it.

Confirmed by Netstar printout, the option on my order is "530 DVD Navigation", this is the same option code as used on the current E-class. I guess this means the delay has been lifted!
