'02 C200k M271 Rough idle at low RPM when in gear
i have recently encountered a problem my Messerschmitt (nickname for my '02 C200k M271). whenever i approach a red light, my rpm drops to about 600 and the whole car shakes. i have also noticed that the same also affects the power of the vehicle which seems to be taking strain to excellerate from standstill to 80/100km/h.
your guidance and step by step "how to" will be highly appreciated.

If the check engine lamp is not illuminated then there are several mechanical components that can cause your complaint. The alternator pulley has a one way clutch built into it and when it fails to freewheel on deceleration it can cause the engine speed to drop very low at idle speed when coming to a stop or when placing the transmission into drive. Combine this with worn out or collapsed engine mounts and it can create a very noticeable roughness that feels like the engine is going to "shut off". These components should be inspected by a qualified mechanic and not just replaced. Additionally there are other things that can cause these symptoms so verification of defective components is very important because the parts and labor are expensive.
