white powder on leather

Has anyone experienced a white powder that appears on the MB charcoal leather interior ? It wipes off with easly but seems to return fairly often. It only appears in spots, not all over. Any ideas what this is from ? This is not really a problem but seems kind of strange.

Where does it appear on the leather? Near vents? Where people sit?

deoderant maybe? If you use the white kind of deoderant that flakes, that could be a source of it.

Okay, that wasn't helpful. Dust appears white on my charcoal leather. Just wipe it off like you have been.

Maybe your car was used to traffic cocaine from Brazil to the U.S. Was your car made in Brazil?

So is it like a dry powdery substance or is it more like spores?

Maybe keep cleaning your leather and then condition it. I was going to say that it maybe coming out of the leather but there are no holes in the leather on the back of the seats.

Bit of a mystery this one.

thanks... not like spores just patchy spots of white powder

Not a big deal really... it wipes right off

I thought it might be a result of the curing process of the leather or Mad Cow precautions or something and that maybe others had the same thing going on

no biggie

Ted - Do You Smoke ?

I could be the ashes... Everything is blown right back into your interior on the C. I got a pair of WeatherTech inserted to the windows. It works great - now I can talk with windows lowered.

Peace

I have it too. It seems to me to showup from contact with oily skin. My dash top does it as well. I have not cleaned mine yet to see if it returns. I just wiped it with a cotton towel. I am planning to Zymol and detail the interior this weekend. I haven't had time since I got it a few weeks ago.

Have you had sex recently in your car? (Tommy, are you getting slow or what?)

Perhaps either you or one of your passengers uses talc. It could just be talc coming off your own body.

It could be salt from sweat. I know that this dries to a powder like substance. Although, I'm not sure why it would be on the back of your seat.

Matilda has the same problem. I also believe it is from contact with the oils in your skin. It is not sweat, dandruff, ***, cocaine, cigarette ashes, etc. Anytime someone touches the leather, there is a light patch of white powder. Strange.
