Steering play

I have a 2006 C280 4matic. When I am driving down the road and making turns, it seems like there is a hesitation before the wheels start turning. I have checked all of the steering linkage and everything is tight. Thanks for any help

Almost sounds like something is wrong with the rack and pinion, though it might also be a loose hub. What happens if you jack up the front end and shake the wheel while a buddy holds the steering wheel?

How much of a delay? If it feels like the steering has just a bit of "give", then check the rack mount bushings (another thread on this forum) ... those can make a real difference in road feel. I did mine, as did others, with excellent results.

Yes. Check rack mount bushings, have seen cars with bad oil leaks causing bushing to go soft and fail.
