Starter Motor removal
Hi there. I'm hoping for a bit of help removing the starter motor from my 2003 C200 W203. I've removed the bolts and the one visible lead but there seems to be wiring going directly into the starter which I can't see because it's behind the area of vision. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing you have the M111 engine same as me.
Check my 2 video's here
on the starter. You can see there are 3 connections.
Each is a different size so new screwing up on the re-install.
Getting the top bolt is a beeeech, since you have to thread extensions from the back
of the trans. Guess you got that already.
Make sure the steering column is locked when you push that piece in and drop the steering shaft.
I also have a rather lengthy thread written probably around 2009-2010 or so,
where I post a bunch of info on the starter removal/repair etc. Just search my username and 'starter' in this forum in the
advanced search. Or it might be on benzworld. You will find it. All the Mercedes docs are in there too.
For me, I just cleaned it and replaced the brushes, but neglected to put grease in...
makes a horrible noise now...but what the heck, I'm at 240K miles.
Good luck!

Thanks
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I should have mentioned that my car is right hand drive so the steering column isn't a problem, nor is the exhaust as has been suggested on other forums. It just has a wire that by the feel of it, goes into the starter and that's stopping the removal. Cheers.

Success
Thank you for that. I finally got it out this afternoon. The problem was that there was a plastic casing around the cable and nut which had to be opened - but I couldn't see it. Thanks again for your help.
