LED Tailights, anyone converted? Pictures?

Unfortunately 05 c230 has no led tailights. What is the strategy for installing aftermarket? Any intelligent alternatives?

The only thing I can recommend to you is replacing your bulbs with LEDs directly, such as the ones found on this site: www.superbrightleds.com . Unfortunately, It'll cause your car to throw errors due to low voltage, so you'd need to buy a load balancer along with the bulbs. I've never seen it done to a Benz, but I have seen a few cars around that used bulbs such as those, and they look pretty interesting, if not different.

A load balancer is just a marketing word for a RESISTOR, as in 100 year old technology.

V=IR ..... 12V source, 350mA max ----> resistor needed.

Not only does the car spit the dummy but the LED's burn about 90% of their working life in a few weeks due to super-high current.

The reason why they come up as faulty is that the thermal protection inside the LED trips the blown bulb circuit.

i was gonna retrofit onto mine. dumped the idea and gave the bulbs to my brother to install on his GTI. the bulbs were not bright enough for brake lights. i didnt want super bright, but at least the same brightness as i had with the original. gave him the led blinkers too. bought the silver vision for my clear turn signals in the back and with the new tail lights the silver vision bulbs look really great.

I have the LED front turn signals...they work great. Silver visions are actually dimmer than the LED ones.

I think I have in the past, but you'll have to STTFF, because my digital cam is in China at the moment, on assignment, if you will.

These are the ones I have, the 100deg wide angle viewing LED replacement bulbs. I think when the 05 taillights get installed, I'll do the LEDs in the back as well.

when my 05 taillights got installed the plugs were a european design for the 1156 bulb. where the nipples where offset and not directly across from each other. i had no problem with this since i used the silver vision bulbs in the rear indicators anyhow. all you would have to do is just shave one of the nipples of the base of the north american style bulb if you have this issue.
