Selling my SLK and getting a C-Coupe

Anyone here owned an SLK prior to owning a C-Coupe?

I am thinking of selling my 1997 SLK200 and getting the 2005 C180-Coupe (it will be available here next week).

Just wondering whether I will regret the change (performance, driving satisfaction, image, etc, etc.)

Would like to get the new SLK, though, but I do not want to wait till end of the year and the price is a little beyond my reach.

Any views much appreciated.

I'm thinking about doing the opposite....hoping to upgrade to the SLK 55.

I guess relative to the older slks the coupe has a much better interior, heaps more options and I think it looks great (particularly if you have a good body kit). The older slks are starting to look a bit dated.

The only real drawback is that the c180 is a bit wimpy in the power stakes. So it really depends on what you are looking for.

slk is so much fun-er compared to a coupe... how much does the 180k goes for nowadays? i will wait for a peugeot 307cc... =)

The C180 Coupe is S$145k (US$81k). The SLK200 is S$228k (US$127k).

The SLK is indeed more fun, not to mention a great head-turner. However, we are already paying so much for cars here, question is whether its worth paying so much more for the "fun" factor?

Looks like this is a question that only I myself can answer.

I went from the SLK to the Coupe, I like my coupe a lot more.

The ride on the SLK was horrible compared to the Coupe, and for what?, the car was still slow.

When I open my Pano-Roof and windows I feel like I'm in the SLK with the top down.

I had both cars together for about 6 months...the SLK just sat, the coupe was driven.

There is always a yellow ferrari outside the Marriot on Orchard Rd...people there have too much money for their own good, alot of them are ex-pats though.

Haven't driven an 05 yet, but I'm interested in doing so. I love all the changes, save the ugly new steering wheel. Supposedly the new version is more than a match for the 3 series in handling.

I'd say go for the coupe. I like the SLK, but its getting pretty old looking, and the SLK never did ride that well.

Thanks guys for all your views.

The new C-Coupe was launched today. Saw it at the showroom. Think I will wait for the new SLK to be launched before making my decision on which to go for. Each has its pros and cons.

Thanks again.
