05 Brakes on 03

Does anyone know if the 05 brakes, front and rear will fit the 03 coupes, clear the evolution wheels, and clear the blowup spare tire?

They should fit, but will they clear the C7 wheels and 16 inch spare. If so, it makes more sense than the C32 brakes.

Seem to remember reading on here that 16" wheels will not clear. Even some 17" and 18" needed spacers as well. Too lazy to search.

13.6" brakes will not fit 16" wheels and will most likely need a spacer to fit the stock spare tire. I believe that these are the same as the C32, only a different look.

that's what i think well, the 05 sport sedan brakes are the same size as the C32 brakes. does that mean i should buy a psacer and keep it in my car in case my spare tire needs to be installed on the front?

It may not be a bad idea, but chances are, you will not need your spare the day you install the brakes. I would recommend that you check fitment of the spare while installing the brakes and then determine what size (if any) spacer is needed.

The spare on the coupes is 16 inch, so the front probably won't clear. The MBUSA site states it has the larger brakes. I remember seeing pictures of the evolution wheels with C32 brakes and I don't believe spacers were needed. I wonder what the 05 C320 coupe uses.

If the 2005 Sports Sedan front brakes are the same as the 2004.5 Sports Sedans (At C Spot they look the same), then they are smaller in all areas than the C32 AMGs.

C 32 AMG/ Brembo rotors 345mm x 28mm part#203 421 0912
2004.5 rotor 330mm x 26mm part#203 421 1312
Stock rotor 11.8 inches ventilated no drillings

The caliper mounting was a little different for smaller rotor
c32 caliper part#0024201983-0024202083

This is the number stamped in the sedan caliper part#0020861201
And the 2004.5 sedan pads were smaller.

I thought C32 rotors were 13.6" though.

The 13.6 equals 345 mm, 330 mm 2004.5 equals 12.9 inches.

At C Spot they mentioned the 13.6 inch rotors, so perhaps MB increase the rotor size for 2005.

Has anyone been able to verify shorter stopping distance with the 05 brakes?

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
The spare will only fit on the back, so you have to move the rear to the front, and then put the spare on the back if you get a flat on the front.

Which brakes are on the 05 C320 Coupe? The MBUSA site says it is the bigger brakes. If so, what spare do they use? Also, if you look at the MBUSA site, the evolution wheels have a 37mm offset vs. a 36mm for the 5 spoke wheels. I'd think there is more clearance on the evolution wheels. On the up side, the 5 spoke wheels are not very expensive.

The 2005 C320 Coupe I was looking at in a UK dealer has a strange looking collapsible spare wheel. Apparently there is a mini compressor in the boot that inlfates the tyre when you need it. He said that the wheel itself is designed to collapse in the event of a rear-end crash.

The same type of spare used in the US. Did you notice the brakes that were used?
