I own a c230 kompressor 2004 and C300 4matic 2011
Need help no power going on fuse 57 and 31 key won't turn
Hi everyone I one a c230 kompressor 2004 m271 my key isn't turn fuse 31 blow replace now I don't get power on fuse 31 and fuse 57 engine compartment somebody know if goes in another protection before there ?thanks everybody

Not sure what would make the fuse 31 blow. As in there's no reason why the EIS would every draw too much current under normal operation.
Unfortunately I think the EIS is car (VIN) specific. As in I'm not sure if you can even replace this with one from a wrecker.
Unless someone else here knows more about the module, you may be looking at the dealership.

I have seen somewhere on the internet, where people are able to swap the
chips containing the vehicle specific data to another EIS without the dealer.
Youtube maybe?

EIS internal connector- known fault - soldering fails and the board connector drops off and moves around inside EIS,. i am guessing there might be potential for the metal parts of the connector to short out other parts of the circuit?, and cause the fuse to fail??

Problem solved
1) Sent the EIS & ESL (need to send the complete steering column with the ESL attached)
2) EIS repaired
3) ESL was confirmed mulfunction
4) Tested pair EIS with 'ESL bypass emulator' - result ok
Decided to use 'ESL bypass emulator' instead replace the ESL
1) Sent the EIS & ESL (need to send the complete steering column with the ESL attached)
