I ordered my 05 230 sedan yesterday in Diamond Black, hopefully i'll get it soon and put up some pics of it. I've never seen the color either, and dying to see it in person.

I saw one in diamond black at the dealer. It's an awesome color, you won't be disappointed. It's black with tiny tiny metallic white crystals in it. Yes it is metallic. It would be mysecond choice next to the black opal.

Out Of Control!!
It looks like it has a purplish or bluish tinge to me. Could be my monitor, though.
X- I really like black opal too - pics don't do it justice (which I assume is the problem here as well).

I dont like alot of the Black variations that MB has. Obsidian looks green in sunlight and almandine looks red. I have not seen diamond but it appears purple. Only black knock off I like is Black Opal and its not even black, its more navy blue. Flat black is the best color for MB if you like cleaning. Silver is next if you are lazy like myself and washes the car once a month.

thanks for all of the info!! If i were to get a C,I'd either get Capri blue, black opal, or diamond black(although all of us still can't figure out what diamond black really looks like)...thanks again!

You would have to be nuts to make color decisions based on photos! I have seen diamond black and it looks great. It would most likely be my first choice. However, color is the most subjective part of the car so I would recommend to never make this decision until you can see a car in person. In addition, we all see colors slightly differently - so second hand knowledge is no good either.

The dealer, on the other hand....(ok, we won't go there).
Back on topic; Diamond black is a gorgeous color! The SLR they've been displaying on the show circuit is diamond black. It has flecks of purple, turquoise, silver and pink, which gives it a varying hue of purple/deep blue-green/black....depending on lighting. Pics do it no justice...you have to see it up close and personal for the full effect. Check your local dealer inventories and see if you can find one in stock. You won't be disappointed.
