Odometer reading when your new car came in?
Hey Guys,
You are gonna laugh at me for this, but I'm fully prepared. I also think I searched the forums sufficiently (or so I hope) before I posted.
How many miles did your odometer read when your new car you ordered rolled off the transport truck?
The reason I ask is, a dealer in Houston happened to get a c230k with the exact color & options I want. It's been there for about a week and I plan to see it on Tues. I've been told that so far, no one has test driven it yet, but I want to be sure this is true.
Why you ask? I'm concerned with anyone test-driving the car and going too hard on it when it should be taken care of during its break-in period. This dealer has a habit of not sending salesmen out with the clients on test drives. (I know, I know..it probably wont matter but still.)
So, yeah...I'm a bit obsessive.....my last car was a super meticulously maintained BMW M3...and I want to be just as careful with my new C.

Odometer Reading
We picked up our 2001 C240 at the factory delivery center in Sindelfingen (near Stuttgart). It had about 19 miles when the MB driver drove it out into the customer delivery area (where a couple dozen other customers were receiving cars every fifteen minutes).
I understand that a certain percentage of MB cars are taken out on the factory test track before delivery/shipment. At the time I just assumed that they probably take all of the factory delivery cars out for a spin on the track, since there won't be a local dealer convenient to assist with any build problems. The handful of test miles didn't bother me - and the MB rep proudly mentioned at least three times that the car came with a full tank of gas! I didn't appreciate how cool that was till I filled it up in France the next day.

Mine had 85 miles on it. There was a notice in the drivers side door compartment that it was chosen at random for a test drive.
I guess I'd rather have a car that ran perfect them one w/ 8 miles that didn't.

Mine was brand new with 81 miles on it....had been on the lot for over 1 year which is why I got a deal on it.....
However, - my friend bought the second or third CLK500 in TN and when it arrived (late) it had 41 miles on it - direct special order for him.....
he raised cain and told them to shove it unless they gave him some freebies...which they did.
I figure the sales guys took turns driving it the day it arrived since they had never seen one at this dealership before - and obviously not driven one before.....

My sister's had 7 miles on it. The interior still had all the cardboard, plastic, tape and other protective stuff in it. The salesman told us it had never been test driven which was obvious because it couldn't have been with all the factory protection still inside.

mine was bought off the lot the same month c320 coupes first began shipping out to dealers (around march 2003), so they only had 3, and i wanted black more than anything, so i just took it. and that was all irrelevant :-P, so yeah, mine came with 14 miles on it.
