Took the girlfriend to test the new 05 C230 sport sedan
She wants a new car so we went down to the local MB store. My impressions are as follows:
The looks of the car both in and out are much better, the new 17" rims and Pilot Sports staggered tires from the CLK 320 appearence pkg and the front lower valance etc from the CLK 500 do wonders for the car, the new updated interior is nice too. The tester which had 2200 miles was tight as a drum with no rattles squeaks at all. The downside was the engine, at cold start it was very evident it was a four banger very noisy with an unrefined exhaust note, it did quiet down a little after warming up but it still sounded unrefinded. Such a shame because the rest of the car was great. We tried to see if they made a 240 sport for 05 but they do not make one. The six in the 240 was weak on torque but sounded much better and was smoother than the kompressor four. The c320 sport was not worth the money but a c350 for 40k would be a much better deal. I think it's time MB replaced the 1.8 with a better engine, kompressor or not. Sorry if I've offended anyone...just my observations.

the C230k sport has the AMG kit for the C-class, you'll definitely notice it's different than the CLK one. The C55 however has the same front end as the CLK500/55 other than the foglight was modified to be round instead of oval.

hmm my 1.8 seems fine dosent bother me....I hope mb dosent replace it, it is great engine...
if the 1.8 isnt refined enough to you, you would really like the 3.0-x-type that thing is a wonderful beast that blow your ear drums lol
