I think you need to be very cautious when selecting wheels/tires. The overall diameters need to be a very close match to avoid affecting the ESP.

You mean from the Factory? The car is programmed to accept the larger tire diameters in the rear?

But then again I not to familiar with Corvette - does it even have an ESP like system?

If you get the right size tires for those wheel sizes then the overall diameter is not larger and it will not mess up the ABS/ESP/etc.

I tried 17 inch in the front and 18 inch in the rear once because my front 18s tires were bad and I had the stock 17 inch AMGs laying around.. It did not look very good. Maybe 18 and 19s would look better? I have a feeling it would probably look strange too though. It will probably always look strange with different height sidewalls.

The C5s came stock with 1" larger rears, an esthetic necessity, what with that ungainly-but-aerodynamic *** end. As for ESP, Corvettes are typically loaded with technology, sometimes years before most other cars. My '96 has ESP, ASP, ABS, low-tire-pressure warning system, real-time-damping driver-adjustable suspension, blah, blah, blah. Knock on wood, it's all actually still working, too.

I really like the 'Vette ..... definitely a cool, cool car. My favorite has always been the '63 to '67 ‘Vette. I thought that the fuelie was the World's best sports car when I was little; and with the big-block....well holy shi^.

I would like to see Chev come up with an aluminum V10 DOHC Twin Turbo for the Vette....and then do something about it's fat ***. Chev really needs to answer to the rest of the world in the HP race. It's just not right that an M-5 or a CL or even an SL should be more powerfull.

Anyway...just a caution to check up about the ESP. I seem to recall a bunch of threads discussing this.

I think the new C6 will do just fine. After the first production year, maybe Chevy will pull some tricks out of the bag. BMW & Mercedes are in the middle of a serious h.p. war though. But at $75k+, there will always be a lucky few owners. At least there are a bunch of aftermarket tuners out there that will eventually fabricate M5 killers!

I think they have got some engine development to do.....Get rid of the pushrods, shorten the stroke, variable valve timing, get the Rev limit up at a minimum. If not ....get out an all aluminum Big-Block, or come up with something to match or better ...at least the RT10.

Chev Corvette was a match for just about any sports car in the world in the 60's. They really lost that in the mid '70s, and started a comeback in the late '80s. But I still think the Bean Counter is in charge, and not the Sports Car Guys, when it come to deciding how to outfit the 'Vette.

Had GM been smart, and had the right people in charge...there would not have even been a market left for the Viper to get into.
