Benz runs out of fuel even though gauge shows i have fuel

Benz runs out of fuel even though gauge shows i have fuel
Hey Guys,
i have a problem with my CLK 270 CDI 2004 it turns off even though the fuel gauge shows i have fuel .....

it turns off probably runs out of fuel because i see there is no fuel going in the fuel filter i fill it up again and after couple of tries its alive again
but the fuel gauge showing me that i have like 3 or 4 lines of fuel ( digital gauge )
happened to me couple of times its kind of annoying..

You car has a saddle tanks meaning fuel has to be moved from the left to the right side in order for fuel to be pumped to the engine. The siphon that moves the fuel is not working properly.

Before you go striping things out first try a tin of RED-X in the tank it freed mine up in the process .Just a try my save you some cash in the end ..

I use diesel system cleaner every 3 months
i had the car for two years now still same problem
but it never turns off while im driving it happened for me like 5 times all 5 times when i come to a stop
idk maybe the cluster is bad maybe the fuel sensor is bad maybe fuel pump
btw before i bought the car it was parked in the garage for 6 months idk maybe this info helps with solving the problem
