This mod is not available for the Coupe or Wagon. Both would require hydraulic lifters like the S class and E class wagon have. CLK and E sedan have electric motor to lift the trunk lid.

The motor will lift the trunk lid as well as close it. Having the lid open all the way with the remote has nothing to do with this modification. Also, the lid will not close with the remote. Only open. You have to use the rear button or the cabin button to close the lid. The lid can be closed manually but you have to overcome the force of the motor.

I think my worst nightmare just happened. I believe that option has been deleted on 05 CLK's so the motor is rare has hen's teeth!

You have a coupe and coupes don't come with the trunk release button, however the button is inside the key though!!!! Just get a new key shell with the trunk button and it will pop open.

yes, my key broke (by dipping it in saltwater, rinsing off in fresh and replacing the batteries). when my replacement key arrived it had a trunk button on it. not an original idea, i was given the idea from the forums!

Sunil- do I understand it correctly that you are going to sacrifice the rear window control buttons with this mod?

No, I am not going to sacrifice my rear window controls. The difference in the new switch is that the rear windows don't "auto roll" up and down. I have to hold the switch down manually myself. I can fix this but it will take some time. The auto feature works fine if I use the rear window switches. I would have to desoldier my original switches and solder them onto the new switches. I just got the rear trunk latch in the other day. No motor yet. I will attempt this after next week.

God do I hate what's happened to MB since the merger. Why can't they keep **** separate?!?!

Sunman, I can't wait to see this mod! I just love the Trunk closer on the S-Class, and this is just awesome on a w203!

I got a chance to play with Steve's DAS system and we tried to see what we could do about the trunk closer. Good news is the Trunk Closer control module was recoginized and also the rear electronic latch works fine. We actuated it to make it go up and down. My main motor is coming next week. I will keep you all posted for that.

Hello! I know it’s been almost 2 decades since this thread was las discussed, but is there any chance you remember what are the part numbers for this cool mode?
