Eis/ecu swap...

Okay ive got a 99 clk 430 thats kinda a pile but runs, i bought a 2002 thats clean with a bad eis thinking, i could swap the ecu eis and immobilizer. unfortunately i found out the hard way that the ecus are different with different plugs.
Now i am no slouch with cars. Ive been apart of plenty of LS swap projects (which sorry but i eventually want to do that to this car) but i would like to at least drive the car while i clear out other projects. (I have a 350 hp volvo s70 and an rx8 to ls swap)
Now after research ive realized the 99 has a motronic 2.0 and the 2002 has a motronic 2.8. And i am familiar with motronic ecus due to having a volvo.
My 2 options are basically swap everything cosmetic, doors, hood, trunk, fenders, bumpers, seats, carpet etc. from the 2002 to the 99 plus entire subframes with suspension. And junk the 99 (i need space at my shop)
Or
Figure out how to get the 2002 to run. Now being with volvos some people downgrade their motronic ecus (99 and up being different than 98 and before and 98 and before are diy tunable fairly easily) could i basically downgrade the 2002 to the 99 ecu eis etc by changing full engine and dash harnesses or changing pin outs even.
I guess i have a 3rd option of attempting to megasquirt the 2002 which isnt out of the question, but not preferable
Im getting to the point i need to do something with these or junk them both and move on. Any help here?

How do you repair the eis. Supposedly the key was in the ignition when jumper cables were put on which supposedly breaks the eis... is this true
